Bloody Good Time released for PC

After a delay of a couple of days, Bloody Good Time is now available for PC owners to purchase and download via Steam. The Source Engine-based multiplayer shooter with B-movie characters trying to kill each other on a Hollywood movie set, is normally priced at the already low $4.99 but until November 2 you can get the game on Steam for $4.49.

The game is published by Ubisoft but aside from a press announcement last August the company has done little to promote the game before today. The title was developed by UK-based Outerlight but as we exclusively reported earlier this month the developer is all but shut down at the moment. Co-founder Chris Peck told us at the time that he is "working unpaid in the hope to recoup some royalties from the game."

Report: Bloody Good Time delayed to November 3 ... or maybe Friday [Update]

It looks like we will have to wait a few more days to have a Bloody Good Time. The Source Engine-based multiplayer shooter from now dormant developer Outerlight and publisher Ubisoft was supposed to be released via download on Wednesday. However a listing on Direct2Drive's web site now indicates the game will in fact be released on this coming Wednesday, November 3.

Just a reminder: The game is set in a Hollywood sound stage where B-movie stereotypes wage war against each other on the set. Developer Outerlight is all but gone as staff members were let go soon after Bloody Good Time was sent to Ubisoft.

Update: Steam's listing for the game is now showing Bloody Good Time's release date is now October 29. So basically who knows. Meanwhile the Xbox 360 version is indeed available to download and play.

Report: Bloody Good Time to be priced at just $4.95

The unusual upcoming first person shooter Bloody Good Time is still set for release on October 27 and now comes word that what may be the final game from developer Outerlight will have a super-low price point. According to a pre-order page on Direct2Drive Bloody Good Time is priced at just $4.95.

The game, which has players controlling B-movie characters who are trying to kill each other in movie sets, is being published by Ubisoft but the publisher has done little to promote the game's release aside from its first announcement in early September. As we have previously reported, the development team at Outerlight was let go shortly after the team completed the game.

Bloody Good Time trailer reveals October 27 release date

Publisher Ubisoft doesn't seem to be doing a lot to publize the upcoming downloadable first person shooter Bloody Good Time. A new trailer for the game was posted with no fanfare on Ubisoft's YouTube channel a week ago. That trailer, which is a mix of cut scene and gameplay footage, reveals that the title is due for release on October 27.

As we exclusively reported earlier this week, the the co-founder of the game's developer Outerlight told us in an interview that the company is "all but dissolved" after the team completed the game for Ubisoft several months ago The publisher's new trailer doesn't even mention Outerlight's involvement in Bloody Good Time. More from Outerlight's co-founder about developer's status

On Monday we posted up an exclusive interview with Chris Peck, the co-founder of UK-based game developer Outerlight. Peck told Big Download that the developer is "all but dissolved" following the completion of Bloody Good Time which will be released from publisher Ubisoft sometime later this fall.

We had some follow up questions to ask of Peck but the answers he provided arrived too late for inclusion in our interview on Monday. Rather than edit and place them in the original interview we have included the questions and answer here as a separate post. You can read them after the jump.

Interview: We chat with Outerlight's co-founder about Bloody Good Time and more

Earlier this summer Ubisoft officially announced plans to release Bloody Good Time, a first person action game where B-movie characters try to kill each other off on movie sets. The game was developed by UK-based Outerlight who gained fame as the makers of The Ship, an unusual mix of first person action, people sim and murder mystery that first started as a Half-Life mod. Both The Ship and Bloody Good Time use the Source Engine from Valve.

What is not generally known is that Outerlight as a development team has been shut down since finishing Bloody Good Time for Ubisoft some time ago. Both the company's official web site and the web site for The Ship are no longer online. Before Bloody Good Time was officially announced Big Download reached out to Outerlight team members for comment about the team's future. The company's co-founder Chris Peck finally agreed to answer our questions about the game and Outerlight in general.

Big Download sent Ubisoft our interview with Peck before posting it today and asked for their side of the development of Bloody Good Time and their reaction to Outerlight's current shut down. So far we have yet to receive an official comment from the publisher on the interview's content.

Bloody Good Time trailer kills for an acting gig

The folks behind The Ship have been hard at work on their spiritual sequel, and the result is Bloody Good Time. While there's not been a whole lot in regards to information on the game, this trailer shows off two nice things about the upcoming title: its excellent art style and the casual humor behind the violence. We'll hold off judgement on the mechanics proper until we see some gameplay trailers, but it's good to see that the developers want to retain the excellent presentation of their previous game.

Bloody Good Time finally announced

After months of just a bare bones web site and an ESRB listing, publisher Ubisoft has finally and officially announced plans to release Bloody Good Time. This multiplayer-themed action will be released for the PC this fall via Steam and was developed by Outerlight, the team responsible for the unusual murder-shooter title The Ship. This new game, like The Ship, will use Valve's Source Engine as its basis.

As was first revealed in the game's ESRB listing a few months ago, Bloody Good Time is set on Hollywood sound stages where players have to kill other "actors" on the set using "frying pans, golf clubs, barbeque forks, machine guns, flamethrowers, knives, and swords." Players can pick from several different types of classic B-movie characters to play as. There's no word yet on pricing for the game.

Feature: Even more Black Ops PC games

A few months ago we posted up a feature story that took a look at many games that are currently being developed under the radar. We called them "Black Ops games" and since then we have dug even deeper and found even more game titles that as of this writing are currently being created under the cone of silence.

We got what little info we collected on these titles and brought them up into the light for all to see. They include a sci-fi shooter from a MMO developer, a next-gen strategy game, and a company that has raised over $100 million to develop two MMO titles. What is it that they and other developers don't want you to know about yet? Read on to find out more.

Are the creators of The Ship working on a....MURDER?

We've been wondering what the developers at UK based Outerlight have been working on lately. The team first came on our radars as the creators of The Ship, a unique multiplayer action game that started life as a Half-Life 1 mod and later became a full-fledged Source Engine game in 2006. In 2007 Outerlight announced it was working on a sequel to The Ship with a "major international publisher" but since then no news on the project has been announced.

Now a post on the game's official message boards has revealed that Outerlight team members have been spotted playing an previously unknown game called "Hollywood Murder Party" on Steam. It's unknown what this project might be; a true sequel to The Ship or a all-new project. We will try to find out more in the coming weeks.
