CES 2011: Origin PC reveals new gamings PCs overclocked to over 5 Ghz

Earlier this week, Intel revealed its new next generation Core processors and since then PC makers have been sending out press releases by the bucket load announcing their new PC systems with the new chips installed. But the folks at Origin PC have something for the hardcore gaming PC crowd that should turn some heads.

During CES 2011 Origin PC announced that its Genesis and The Big O gaming PC rigs (The Big O also, as some of you may remember, has a working Xbox 360 inside its case) will not only have the new Core i5 and i7 processors from Intel but they will also have support for overclocking up to and over 5.0 GHz. We think you will agree that's pretty speedy.

Origin PC launches new and powerful EON 17 PC gaming laptop

Origin PC generated a lot of buzz a few weeks ago when it announced a hybrid gaming PC-Xbox 360 desktop system. Now the company has revealed plans for yet another powerful PC gaming system. This time its in the laptop category with the EON17 system.

This is definitely not an ultra-portable or netbook but a full featured gaming PC laptop with support for NVIDIA's newly launched GeForce GTX 480M graphics card in an SLI set-up. It also has an Intel Core i7 980X processor, up to 24 GB or RAM and can handle up to three hard drives with a total of 2 TB of storage space. You can also get a custom paint job for your new gaming laptop. This bad boy starts its pricing at a "mere" $2,499.

Gaming PC and Xbox 360 combined with The Big O by Origin PC

While we have seen the occasional Xbox 360/PC combo mod machine created by the enthusiastic amateur, the gaming PC company Origin PC has gone ahead and made a very cool looking (and very expensive) rig called The Big O that combines a high end gaming PC and an Xbox 360 console.

The PC side can use a regular Intel Core i7 processor but you can also configure it with two Intel's Xeon X5680 processors with six cores each that are overclocked to 4.3 Ghz. It can also hold up to 24 gigs of memory, and you can also thrown in some Nvidia GeForce GTX 480 graphics cards in an SLI set up. The system has a slim and liquid cooled Xbox 360 console in the case and you can play Halo Reach on the console while the PC is working on something else. And the price? Well, The Big O starts at $7,669. Wow.

Origin PC offers up overclocked Core i7 980x Extreme Edition

Last week, Intel announced its fastest PC processor yet, the Core i7 980X Extreme Edition. The six core, 12 threaded processor is likely going to be the most powerful PC processor for gaming for a while. But now the folks at Origin PC, which launched back in November via a number of ex-Alienware folks, are offering the processor in their desktop PCs.

That would be not so interesting news, except for one thing. Origin PC is offering not just the standard 3.33 Ghz clocked version but one that's overclocked all the way up to 4.3 Ghz. That should put it close to 88 miles an hour territory.

Former Alienware team members form new Origin gaming PC company

Even though the high-end gaming PC is supposed to be an endangered species, a number of companies are still going old school and making PCs that cater to that particular audience. A number of former Alienware team members have decided to go out on their own and form their own company, Origin.

The Miami-based company has just announced their first products, the Genesis desktop and the EON18 notebook. In addition to offering high end componants and overclocking (they will even let you pick whatever case design you want) Origin also provides for custom paint jobs for both their desktop and notebook model. The big question: can this new company compete with all of the other gaming PC vendors already out there?
