Order of War Challenge adds support for Nvidia 3D Vision

If you ever wanted to play a WWII RTS game where the tank projectiles seem to come out of the screen to hit you, you are in luck today. A new update to Order of War Challenge via Steam has added support for seeing the game in 3D via Nvidia's 3D Vision technology.

The update to the title developed by Wargaming.net also has some other things such as bug fixes, graphical improvements and more. But let's face it; the increased amount of support for 3D in games shows that even World War II titles can benefit from it. What's next, though? A 3D puzzle game?

PC game sales today include Battlestations titles, Order of War and Star Trek Online

Today is the second day of Steam's big week long sale of games from Square Enix and their Eidos brand. For today only the PC game download service has cut the price of three games from the publisher; the WWII action strategy titles Battlestations Midway and Battlestations Pacific and the WWII RTS game Order of War. You can get each game for today only for 50 percent off their normal Steam price or get all three in a bundle for just $28.89, a 66 percent savings from their normal price.

In related news Amazon.com's Sale of the Day has cut the price of the recent MMO Star Trek Online for today only to just $27.99. The game's Collector's Edition is also sale priced today to just $47.99. (Thanks to Joystiq for finding that).

Order of War Challenge delayed

Looks like fans of WWII strategy games will have to wait a couple of extra weeks for one of them to be released. Wargaming.net had previously announced that their stand alone expansion pack Order of War Challenge would be released this week. Now he Steam web site has changed its release date to March 12.

Just a reminder; this is a multiplayer expansion to 2009's WWII RTS game with 12 new maps, six new multiplayer modes, four c-op missions and more. Owners of the original Order of War game can download this expansion for free. Everyone else can download it for the price of $9.99.

Price and release date for announced Order of War: Challenge

Earlier this week, Wargaming.net announced its new stand alone expansion to their 2009 WWII RTS game Order of War. At the time the developer didn't provide a release date or a price for the expansion, titled Order of War Challenge. Now Wargaming.net has announced that the expansion will be released via Steam on February 25 and will be priced at $9.99 for anyone who has not bought the original game.

As we mentioned earlier this week, people who already have bought Order of War will be able to download the expansion for free. It will contain 12 new mutiplayer maps, six new multiplayer maps, four co-op survival maps, and more new content.

Order of War: Challenge downloadable add-on announced

Last fall developer Wargaming.net released Order of War, the latest in what seemed like a flood of WWII themed RTS games. The original game was published by Square Enix as their first game from a Western developer. Now Wargaming.net is releasing a new multiplayer add-on for the game on its own with the announcement today of Order of War: Challenge.

This add-on, to be released via Steam, is designed to be a stand alone product but folks who already own the original Order of War will be able to download and play the Challenge add-on for free. It will have 12 new mutiplayer maps, six new multiplayer maps, four co-op survival maps, and more. There's no word on when it will be release on what folks who don't own the original game will be charged.

Major new Order of War update released via Steam

The game was released without much fanfare last September but the WWII RTS title Order of War has continued to see new and fairly large updates since then. Today the latest such update was released via Steam and adds two new multiplayer maps (Proving Grounds and "Massive Assault) to the Wargaming.net-developed title.

In addition to the new maps, there's been some new multiplayer achievements added to the game as well as a host of other additions, changes and bug fixes. For example some of the previous multiplayer maps have been changed up a bit (removing some objects, shifting some control points, etc) some multiplayer AI has been improved and support has been added for Nvidia's 3D Vision glasses.
