Dark Horse to create Dungeon Siege III web comic

Dungeon Siege 3 is due out on May 31 but before that happens gamers will get to check out a series of comic books based on the fantasy action-RPG. Square Enix announced this week that three web-based comics will be written by Jeremy Barlow and drawn by artists Iban Coello and Sergio Abad.

Produced by Dark Horse Comics the three Dungeon Siege III web comics will be posted on the game's official web site as well as made available for free via digital download on Dark Horse's digital comics system. You may remember that Walmart will have a printed copy of the Dungeon Siege III comic as its pre-order incentive.

Review: Fallout New Vegas - Dead Money

Whether it's facing marauding slavers, taking on hulking super mutants, or going toe-to-toe with giant mutant bugs, Fallout players should be well accustomed to dealing with mortal danger lurking around every corner. So describing Fallout New Vegas - Dead Money as one of the most dangerous adventures to date will probably be met with some skepticism. As the first DLC expansion to Fallout New Vegas, it's designed for level 20 characters or above. Players follow a radio signal promoting the grand opening of the Sierra Madre resort and casino and end up getting sprayed with knockout gas and stripped of all belongings except for a single weapon and a bomb locked around your neck. You wake up just in time to meet the projected image of a scribe named Father Elijah threaten to detonate the bomb unless you run a heist centuries in the making.

Dungeon Siege 3 co-op XP features explained

dungeon siege 3
Dungeon Siege 3 will have support for up to four players in co-op mode when the fantasy action-RPG is released on May 31. However there's been some chat online about how the game handles co-op experience points for players. Recently there's been talk that if you join in one of Dungeon Siege 3's co-op games online, your character won't be able to get XP from that game match.

As it turns out it's not as cut and dried as the initial reports stated. Destructoid has word from the game's associate producer Nathan Davis of developer Obsidian Entertainment that there is in fact persistant XP for your character. The way the game will handle it is that you will have a separate character for Dungeon Siege 3's single player and create a new character for any multiplayer games you want to participate in. Davis says, "Co-op players can absolutely expect to have the loot and experience they gain in multiplayer games to be saved to their multiplayer characters." There will also be unique multiplayer rewards as well. We will have to see if players will go for having separate character for their single and co-op game experiences.

Fallout New Vegas Dead Money PC released

Fallout New Vegas PC fans can finally access the first official DLC mini-expansion for the post-apocalypse RPG. The expansion, Dead Money, is now available to purchase and download via Steam for $9.99. The expansion, which was originally released for the Xbox 360 back in December, has a bit of an Ocean's Eleven vibe to it as your character and three other NPCs are forced by someone else to break into the Sierra Madre Casino and take its "treasure".

This is the first of four planned DLC mini-expansions planned for Fallout New Vegas. The other three will be released for all three of the game's platforms at the same time so no more timed exclusives.

Dungeon Siege 3 trailer explores the concept of loyalty

Dungeon Siege 3 is the first game in the main Dungeon Siege series not to be developed by Gas Powered Games, but that doesn't mean it isn't staying true to the franchise. Under Chris Taylor's advisory, the story returns to the Kingdom of Ehb and the tribulations of the 10th Legion, a powerful and benign army. This trailer gives hints as to the story, such as the dissolution of the 10th Legion and the importance of loyalty, but does not reveal too much about the game or the events to unfold in it. It's a little intriguing, as it's going back to the root of the first game, but it leaves something to be desired.

Fallout New Vegas Dead Money trailer isn't quite Ocean's Eleven

With the PC version of Dead Money now confirmed we can now show the trailer for the first of four planned downloadable mini-expansions for 2010's RPG Fallout New Vegas. The DLC, which is due out on February 22, has you teaming up very reluctantly with three other characters to rob a treasure at a casino vault.

And when we say "reluctantly" we mean it. Apparently the person in charge of this heist has set you and your companions up with a bomb that will explode if you don't do what your new boss says. We wonder how Danny Ocean would have handled this.

Fallout New Vegas PC video shows game controlled through different means

Customizable controls, believe it or not, are not always found even in modern PC games. But they can certainly be of great help for PC gamers with disabilities. The perfect example of this is shown in the above YouTube clip of a man named Gareth. He's playing the PC port of the post-apocalypse RPG Fallout New Vegas without the use of hands.

Gareth cannot make use of his hands but still wants to play PC games which normally requires the use of a mouse and keyboard. In the video you can see how he can play the Obsidian Entertainment-developed game with just the mouse controlled by his own head. It certainly shows that having features like customizable controls and other features can let a wide variety of people enjoy gaming.

Dungeon Siege III gets pre-order bonuses and May 31 US release date

Square Enix has now confirmed that the US release date for Dungeon Siege III will be on May 31, a few days after the next game in the fantasy action-RPG series shows up on European shores on May 27. More importantly, a number of retailers have announced their own pre-order incentives for putting your money down early to get the game from developer Obsidian Entertainment.

Perhaps the coolest pre-order incentive is if you get the game via the Steam download service. Those folks will get free single player versions of both previous Dungeon Siege games (developed by Gas Powered Games) for free. Pre-orders at GameStop get two exclusive in-game items (Burning Band of Scorch and Talisman of the Grand Mage) while Amazon.com pre-orders get the Bite of the Arakun in game item and Best Buy pre-orders get the Sacred Heart of the Legion in-game item. Wal-Mart pre-orders will get a mini-strategy guide for the game along with a Dungeon Siege mini-comic produced by Dark Horse Comics.

Dungeon Siege III gets May 27 Europe release date

While we are still waiting on the official US release date for Dungeon Siege III, publisher Square Enix has sent out word today that European countries will be getting the upcoming fantasy action-RPG sequel on Friday, May 27. If history repeats itself, that should mean that US gamers can expect the Obsidian Entertainment-developed game on May 24.

Dungeon Siege III is just the latest game to announce a release date for the May 2011 period. It joins an already crowded list of games that are also due out that month including F.E.A.R. 3, Duke Nukem Forever, Red Faction Armageddon, Brink, and The Witcher 2.
