Upcoming Fallout New Vegas mod Project Nevada looks promising

While PC gamers wait for developer Obsidian Entertainment to release some official DLC packs for Fallout New Vegas a team of mod authors is already working on an ambitious project for the 2010 released post-apocalypse RPG. The mod is called Project Nevada and publisher Bethesda Softworks thinks so highly of the mod it decided to write a post about it on the Bethblog web site.

As you can see from the above YouTube trailer the mod will add some new content to the game including new cyber-implant features like enhanced vision modes, adding sprints to player movements and more. There will also be new HUD interfaces, more crosshair designs and more. You can check out the progress of the mod on the game's official forums.

Fallout New Vegas gets new 1.2 patch via Steam

\It's been a while since there's been a patch update for Fallout New Vegas but today the recent post-apocalypse RPG got a major new patch. The update, delivered automatically via Steam, brings the Obsidian Entertainment-developed title up to version 1.2.

Unfortunately the patch notes for the update as supplied by publisher Bethesda Softworks are not all that detailed. It does say that issues have been addressed in a variety of the game's different features, including the Pip-Boy interface, weapons and weapons mods, perks, skills and many more but specific bug fixes are not mentioned. In addition the patch fixes issues for a long list of quests in the game.

Fallout New Vegas Digital Collectors Edition on sale at Direct2Drive

Fallout New Vegas continues to sell well in its PC incarnation and this weekend the folks at the Direct2Drive web site have given folks a bit of a break in the purchase of the Digital Collector's Edition of the post-apocalyse RPG. From now until the end of the weekend the game from developer Obsidian Entertainment and publisher Bethesda Softworks is on sale for just $34.96, a $20 savings from its normal price.

Just a reminder; the Digital Collector's Edition contains the game plus a downloadable copy of All Roads, the comic book prequel to the game's storyline as written by Obsidian's own Chris Avellone.

Fallout New Vegas gets new PC update

Fallout New Vegas now has a new update to download via Steam as promised by publisher Bethesda Softworks last week. Unlike the first two PC patches for the recent post-apocalypse RPG there are actual patch notes for this new update to the Obsidian Entertainment-developed game.

This patch, labeled as 1.1.1, deals in part with a couple of issues for the game's companions. They now "show up as waypoints on the map" with this patch and also "will always fast travel with you, unless told to wait or sent away." There are also quite a few technical bugs that have been fixed with this patch. A more compressive update is promised for the near future.

Fallout New Vegas rings up over $300 million in sales; "heavy volume of digital downloads"

Fallout New Vegas is apparently doing very well sales wise for developer Obsidian Entertainment and publisher Bethesda Softworks. Today the publisher announced that the post-apocalypse RPG has had "well over $300 million in sales" since its launched on October 19.

In addition to over five million copies of the game shipping to brick-and-mortar retail stores, Fallout New Vegas has also had "a heavy volume of digital downloads". While specific download numbers were not named that hopefully means the game has a large number of PC owners compared to the consoles. Bethesda also claims it has received "substantial re-orders from our retail partners" for the game.

Fallout New Vegas PC patch update due next week

Developer Obsidian Entertainment and publisher Bethesda Softworks quickly pushed out two PC patches for its recent RPG Fallout New Vegas. The game itself got mostly positive reviews even though many of those reviews, including our own, complained of the many bugs that were evident in the shipping version of the game.

Now the official Bethblog site has word that yet another patch update for Fallout New Vegas is due for the PC sometime next week. This patch will "fix the save corruption issues and problems with companions" in the game along with fixes for the Havok physics engine and improved performance for PC rigs with Nvidia graphics chips. In addition a more "comprehensive patch" for the game is scheduled for released in the coming weeks.

Review: Fallout New Vegas

The Fallout series reminds us that "War never changes," which is essentially a shorter way of saying, "The more things change, the more they stay the same." The saying can be easily applied to Fallout: New Vegas, which looks and plays almost identically to Fallout 3. Changes include an all new Wasteland located in the Mojave desert, populated with fresh characters and creatures. There are also some additions to the skills, perks, and weapons selection, although the majority is carried over directly from Fallout 3. So, if you had major problems with what the previous game had to offer, there's not much New Vegas has to offer that will change your opinion. However, if you're looking for a strong follow-up, then it's time to hit the strip, but be prepared to face some serious technical problems.

Fallout New Vegas PC's second patch released

Fallout New Vegas' PC owners are getting some rapid fire patch support for the just released post-apocalypse RPG. The game just got its second patch about 24 hours after the release of the first patch for the game.

As with the first patch, released via Steam, there are no detailed patch notes. The note on the Steam web site does say, "Preferences, quicksaves, and autosaves should behave normally." That should be a relief to some players that have reported playing the game and then having issues with save games. However, it looks like Steam Cloud support for save game isn't working as the note states, "Cloud support currently disabled."

Fallout New Vegas PC's first patch released via Steam

Fallout New Vegas PC owners just got the first patch for the newly released post-apocalypse RPG via Steam. At the moment there's little info on what the patch contains with the Steam web site stating only that the patch "quest and scripting issues."

Hopefully this patch will deal with some of the game's more immediate issues that have reportedly causes some in-game crashes along with some save game issues. Earlier today Bethesda Softworks' PR head told us that it would be releasing patches for all of Fallout New Vegas' three platforms soon so perhaps the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions will be getting their own patches soon.

Fallout New Vegas bug fixes coming in patch

Fallout New Vegas' reviews has been mostly on the positive side so far. However there have been a number of reports that the just released post-apocalypse RPG from developer Obsidian Entertainment has a number of bugs and other issues. Kotaku has listed some of those issues that have been discovered so far which include some ... interesting .... tricks with heads.

Big Download contacted the game's publisher Bethesda Softworks to find out when the first bug fix patch for Fallout New Vegas would be released. Its PR head Pete Hines emailed back this response: "We are currently working on releasing patches/updates as quickly as possible for Fallout: New Vegas, for all platforms. Announcements regarding the patches are forthcoming." Any patches for the PC port will be issued automatically via Steam.
