Left 4 Dead 1/2 The Sacrifice gets movie poster; no Mac update after all?

Valve still plans to release its latest Left 4 Dead/Left 4 Dead 2 DLC campaign, The Sacrifice, on Tuesday, October 5. Today the developer released the "grindhouse" movie poster for The Sacrifice with the original game's cast. The DLC will allow players to pick which of the original Left 4 Dead cast has to put his or her life down for everyone else in the zombie shooter series (although in the game's official canon it's Bill that bites it).

Valve's latest press release for The Sacrifice says the update will be released for free for the PC but it makes no mention of the long awaited Mac port of Left 4 Dead 2, even though previous media reports indicated the Mac version would finally be released on October 5 as well. We have emailed Valve to get some clarification on this issue.

Left 4 Dead movie posters on sale at Valve's online store

As we head into the holiday shopping season folks are trying to find cool things to give to their gamer friends and family. Valve's online store has a few items of note for their current best selling zombie co-op shooter Left 4 Dead. They have the usual fare of hats and Left 4 Dead t-shirts but they are also offering something a little more unusual; real movie posters based on the loading screens of the game's four chapters.

Each movie poster (done in the B-movie grindhouse style) is on sale now for $6.99 each on the store site but you can also get all four posters (Blood Harvest, Dead Air, Death Toll and No Mercy) for $14.99. It's pretty much the perfect gift for any Left 4 Dead fan.

Left 4 Dead "Grindhouse" movie posters released

If you have played the demo of Valve's upcoming zombie shooter Left 4 Dead you know that the loading screen shots a "grindhouse" style movie post for the game's first chapter No Mercy. Now Valve has gone ahead and released all four of these movie poster style images for everyone to see.

You can check out higher resolution versions of all four posters in the gallery below. In addition to No Mercy, Left 4 Dead will have chapters titles Dead Air (set at an airport), Death Toll (set apparently in a church-cemetery) and Blood Harvest (set in a corn field). You will be able to play all four chapters of Left 4 Dead when the game itself is released on Nov. 18.
