Zero Gear released; free to play on Steam until Sunday

Do you like free games? Of course you like free games. You want to play a $20 game for free from now until Sunday? No problem. You can with today's official release of Zero Gear. The kart racing game from indie developer Nimblebit is now live on Steam.

While the game is normally priced at $20 Nimblebit is letting folks download and play the full game for free from now until Sunday. That's ususally reserved for a game that's been released for at least a few months to gain promotion. If you like the game you can either get it for $20 or get a four pack for $40 (which means you are getting two copies of the game for free). It's not the world's hardest game, but it is free for a few days. Enjoy.

This Week in PC Game: January 11-17

This week is once again a fairly barren one for new PC game titles. In fact no new games will ship to brick and mortar stores in the next seven days and only one major downloadable title is scheduled. In addition, BioWare might release the Dragon Age Origins: Return to Ostagar mini-expansion that was scheduled to launch last week.

Zero Gear - Developer Nimblebit released this kart racing game for the PC via Steam on January 12. Look for tons of customization to create your own kart racer along with four game modes, mini-games, 12 tracks, a bunch of weapons and more.

Zero Gear to launch January 12 on Steam

You may remember a few months ago we reported on an upcoming kart racing game for the PC called Zero Gear that had entered beta testing via Steam. Now comes word from the game's developer Nimblebit that Zero Gear will be released on Steam next week (January 12 to be precise).

While the regular price for the game is $19.99, Nimblebit is letting folks pre-order the game for just $14.99 before its release. You will be able to access the beta build ahead of time as well. While you can purchase the game directly via Steam, Nimblebit is also offering a special deal on their site where you can buy four copies of the game for the bundle price of just $29.99

Indie kart racing game Zero Gear in beta testing

Usually when you hear about a game that's in closed beta testing you think of something like a first person shooter or a big MMO game, not an indie-based kart racer. Yet the three man development team at Nimblebit are doing exactly that with their upcoming game Zero Gear.

The game, which looks like a cool variation of the Mario Kart formula is currently taking sign-ups for people to beta test the title before its official release. The beta, which requires that one have a Steam account, is currently underway. The full game will have four gameplay modes, several weapons, a dozen race tracks and lots of customization features for your character and kart.
