Toy Fair 2011 shows off new Duke Nukem, BioShock and more game-themed action figures

The annual Toy Fair is happening right now in New York City and for the 2011 edition action figure companies are breaking out plans to release new figures based on current and upcoming games. NECA always has a ton of game-related action figures coming down the pike and Figures.com has a gallery full of what the company is showing off at Toy Fair this year.

As you can see one of the upcoming NECA figures is a highly detailed Duke Nukem that's slated for release in April just before Duke Nukem Forever comes out in May. It also showed off some upcoming figures from its BioShock line and announced that in 2012 it would be releasing figures based on the next game in the series BioShock Infinite.

Over at Kotaku they have posted up a video showing off some current and upcoming collectible statues from Gaming Heads, who have previously released statues based on Valve's games. Upcoming products in the video include a Smoker Infected from the Left 4 Dead series and a Portal 2 turret. Gaming Heads is also working on more Valve-based statues including a Gordon Freeman statue from Half-Life 2 that we suspect will sell out quickly.

Big Download's News Bits & Bytes - December 20

Steam's holiday sale seem to pop up earlier every year. We are just sayin' ... not that we are complaining at all; just sayin':

Borderlands to get Claptrap toy in October

More and more games have some action figure licensed tie-ins but to be quite honest most of them are just, well, "Eh?". However we leave some room to be surprised from time to time and at the San Diego Comic-Con allowed us to be surprised with word that Borderlands' wise cracking robot Claptrap will be getting the toy treatment.

Kotaku reports that the toy, which looks like it came out of the cel-shaded universe of Gearbox Software's 2009 first person shooter. will be released sometime in October from NECA Toys. According to their story the Claptrap toy will be able to say a few of his lines from the game. We want one for Christmas. Heck, we want one now.

Exclusive BioShock 2 action figure to be sold at Comic-Con 2010

Even with this crappy economy, the tickets for the 2010 San Diego Comic-Con have all been sold out for months. If you are lucky enough to get a ticket you will be able to have a change to purchase some exclusive comics, toys and other items at the July show.

Many action figure companies have exclusive products at Comic-Con and this week Toy News International reports that one of them, NECA, has revealed that their Comic-Con exclusives will include an Eleanor (with Saved Little Sister) figure from their BioShock 2 line up. This is likely just the first of what will be many game-oriented Comic-Con exclusives for 2010.

New BioShock 2 action figures coming; Borderlands figures revealed

A couple of weeks ago NECA released their first wave of BioShock 2 action figures and props, just ahead of the game's release. Now Toy Fair 2010 has revealed even more plans for BioShock 2 action figures. Figures.com reports that a second wave is due out in April.

the figures will include a Deluxe Big Daddy Bouncer Rosie, a Splicer, a Little Sister 2-pack and a Big Daddy Elite (which you can see above). NECA has plans for even more-game themed action figures. That includes figures based on Gearbox Software's Borderlands. Only one figure has been announced so far for that game; a articulated Claptrap with sound effects (which we hope includes sarcastic remarks).

BioShock 2 action figures and props ship to stores

Last July it was announced that the action figure company NECA would release action figures based on BioShock 2. Now comes word that those action figures have begun to ship to stores. Obviously their release are being timed with the release of the 2K Marin-Digital Extremes first person shooter sequel.

In fact one of the figures, the Big Daddy Deluxe version, has been in stores since November. The BioShock 2 series 1 figures are now avaiable which include the Big Sister and Subject Delta (the player character). In addition NECA is selling two life-sized game props; a Big Daddy plush toy and a Eve Hypo Syringe. You can order all the action figures and props at the NECA web site.

BioShock 2 action figures revealed

Wouldn't be cool if you had a Big Daddy of your very own? How about a Little Sister or even a Big Sister? No, we are not talking about an adoption agency. We are talking about owning a set of the upcoming BioShock 2 action figures from toy company NECA.

The figures were first announced at Wizard World Philadelphia a few weeks ago and according to Gamervision this week's San Diego Comic-Con will have early prototypes of the figures at the NECA booth. Don't look for these cool items for a while; they will likely be released around the same time the recently delayed game comes out sometime in the first half of 2010.
