War Room launched for Empire/Napoleon: Total War players

The development team at The Creative Assembly may be making their next RTS game, Shogun 2: Total War but today the company announced a new web-based feature for players of its two previous titles, Empire: Total War and Napoleon: Total War called the War Room.

The feature lets players link their Sega Pass account to either or both Empire or Napoleon games via the TotalWar.com web site. Players of those games will then be able to see and show off the stats and achievements they have in those title with anyone else. Players of Napoleon: Total War get something extra if they sign up for War Room; a download code for an exclusive unit (the 10th Hussars) that can be used in both single and multiplayer modes. More features for the War Room are promised in the coming months.

New Napoleon Total War patch and Peninsular Campaign DLC released

Fans of developer The Creative Assembly's Napoleon: Total War can now access both a new free patch for the recent historical RTS game as well as the previously announced mini-expansion The Peninsular Campaign via Steam. The DLC, which costs $9.99, adds a new campaign map, a total of 28 new units, a new playable faction (The Spanish) and more.

The free patch for Napoleon: Total War has quite a lot of changes and bug fixes for the game including fixing some achievement unlock problems and some issues with ATI graphics cards. It also adds three new land multiplayer maps.

Napoleon: Total War - Peninsular Campaign defines guerrilla warfare

The Peninsular Campaign is a downloadable stand alone mission expansion for Napoleon: Total War. In it, players can partake in the Spanish Peninsular conflict between 1811 and 1814. The Spanish resistance fighters of this era called their fighting style "Guerrilla" or "Little War," so expect a lot of hit and run strategies to wear down stronger opponents. Players will be able to choose between France, Great Britain or the new Spanish faction and experience one of the most intense conflicts of the Napoleonic era.

It's time for yet another monthly graphics driver update from the folks at AMD via their ATI unit. The newly released Catalyst 10.5 drivers are now available to download via AMD's Game web site. The drivers for the ATI Radeon graphics chips are available for Windows XP, Vista and 7 users in 32-bit and 64-bit flavors.

The release notes for the new drivers reveal the driver's new features and more importantly the driver's various bug fixes for quite a number of recent PC games. The titles with bug fixes include Alien vs. Predator, Battlefield Bad Company 2, Mass Effect 2, Napoleon: Total War, and Splinter Cell Conviction. The bug fixes for the games sometimes depend on which version of Windows you currently use.

Napoleon: Total War The Peninsular Campaign announced

Napoleon Total War has perhaps not been as successful, at least in terms of sales, as The Creative Assembly's last historical RTS game Empire Total War. However the developer has continues to update and expand on their newest title. Today the game's publisher Sega announced a major new downloadable expansion for the game, titled The Peninsular Campaign. The campaign is bast on the real conflicts in Spain during 1811-1814.

Due for release later this summer via Steam, the expansion will add the new playable faction, Spain, to the previous factions of France and Britain. It will also have a non-playable faction in Portugal. The expansion will include a new campaign in the Spanish Peninsula with 32 controllable regions. 28 new units will be added in the expansion and there will also be a number of new multiplayer features.
