Star Trek D-A-C now available for Mac download

The circle is now complete for Star Trek D-A-C. The arcade style space shooter based on the new movie revival of the sci-fi franchise is now available for purchase and download for the Mac platform via the Greentree web site. The game, originally developed by Naked Sky Entertainment, is a pretty cheap $9.99 purchase.

The Mac version was developed by Transgaming and contains all of the content that was contained in the PC port that was released last month via Steam. In addition to a single player campaign the title has multiplayer support for four different gameplay modes (Survival, Team Deathmatch, Conquest and Assault).

Star Trek D-A-C coming to the Mac in December

Usually Mac gamers get the shaft when it comes to getting native ports of previously released PC games. If they are released at all they usually are behind by months or even years after the PC versions are out. In the case of Star Trek D-A-C that's not the case at all as the Mac port of the movie-based game is now scheduled for release this December.

Transgaming is handling the Mac port duties for the game which was originally created by Naked Sky Entertainment. If you have a Macand have a hankering for some movie-based top down space shooting action, you can go ahead and pre-order the downloadable Star Trek D-A-C port for $8.99 at the GameTree online web site.

Star Trek D-A-C's PC release moved up to November 12

A few days ago we reported that the PC version of Star Trek D-A-C would finally be released via Steam on November 17, the same day as the DVD and Blu-Ray release of the Star Trek movie revival. Well, it looks like gamers will get their Trek gaming goodness a few days earlier than planned. The Steam pre-order page has changed the release date. It's now showing a November 12 date for the game to be made available for download.

Pricing for the PC port has still not been revealed on the Steam web site. The top down space shooter from developer Naked Sky Entertainment is scheduled to have a number of extras not available in the first Xbox 360 version.

PC version of Star Trek D-A-C gets November 17 release via Steam

Fans of last May's terrific Star Trek movie revival will be able to buy the DVD and Blu-Ray versions of the film on November 17. Today, Steam revealed that happens to be the date for the PC port of Star Trek D-A-C, the top down space shooter that's based on the Trek universe depicted in the film (the upcoming MMO Star Trek Online is based on the "classic" Trek timeline but set several decades in its future).

As we have reported before the game was eveloped by Naked Sky Entertainment. The PC version will add two new ship classes, a new Assault mode map and a new Survival game mode. Pricing for the PC version has still not been announced.

Star Trek D-A-C finally coming to the PC in November

The downloadable game tie-in to last May's terrific movie Star Trek revival was previously an Xbox 360 exclusive but this November the game will finally appear on the PC. Paramount announced today that the top-down space shooter game Star Trek D-A-C will be released for the PC via Steam with some new content added for your pleasure.

Developed by Naked Sky Entertainment, the PC version will add two new ship classes (the Missile Corvette and the Support Frigate), a new Assault mode map and a new Survival game mode where you have to fight against waves of ships to rack up the best time. The PC version will also add support for Nvidia's 3D Vision technology. Pricing for the PC version was not announced.

Confirmed: Star Trek D.A.C. coming to the PC

It wasn't looking like the previously announced movie tie-in game Star Trek D.A.C. was going to be released for the PC platform. However TrekMovie.com has now confirmed that the downloadable top down space shooter will indeed be made available for us PC owners. The release date for the PC version, as well as pricing, has not been announced.

TrekMovie.com also has some new screenshots from the game (which we have reproduced here) showing off some of the visuals created by developer Naked Sky Entertainment. The game will allow players to either join the Federation or play as the nasty alien Romulans in three gameplay modes that support single player, online and co-op.

(By the way, we still don't know what D.A.C. stands for)

Star Trek movie game coming in May

One of the biggest, if not the biggest, summer movies of 2009 is set for release on May 8 when Star Trek heads to theaters. The new adventures of the original crew of the Enterprise (with an all-new cast) has generated ton of press months before the release.

Now comes word via fan site TrekMovie.com that an upcoming game based on the movie is in the works. The site has posted up a flyer (reproduced here) that will be included in the Blu-Ray release of the Star Trek Season One TV series. It shows a game being announced called Star Trek D-A-C with a picture of the movie's version of the Enterprise firing at alien ships. The flyer shows a May 2009 release date and a logo for Naked Sky Entertainment. The developer's previous game was the 2006 released downloadable title Roboblitz (one of the first games to use Unreal Engine 3). It also shows a ParamountPictures.com/games URL that, for the moment, just feeds into the main web site address of the movie studio.

So what exactly is this game and why has Paramount decided to basically publish this game itself instead of working with another publisher? Stay tuned.
