Trackmania United Forever 50 percent off on Steam this week

Who says PC game sales have to be this weekend only? Not Valve's Steam service. They are breaking in a new 50 percent off sale on Trackmania United Forever, the racing-puzzle game from French developer Nadeo. From now until August 10 you can buy the full game for $19.99 as opposed to its normal Steam price of $39.99.

In related news Steam has also dropped the price permanently on the recent Ubisoft RTS game Tom Clancy's EndWar. If you haven't picked up this near-future military themed game (with voice control) you can do so now at Steam for the lower price of $29.99.

Nadeo, the same development studio that created TrackMania Nations, is applying the same "free" mentality from its car racing game to a boat simulation and racing game. Virtual Skipper Online is a complete and free to play boat racing game that lets players take the helm of the most famous boats such as Class America, Open 60, Melges 24 or even offshore racers to sail the four corners of the world in 14 of the best competitive watercourses, either solo or in multiplayer mode.
"Based on a model that is close to the TrackMania Nations free game, also created by Nadeo, Virtual Skipper Online is a complete game with access to a solo mode enabling players to benefit from servers to meet and play against players from around the world in excellent conditions."

Trackmania United Forever ships out

Trackmania has almost always had a free game to bloster its sales by showing people how fun the little racer could be. With Trackmania United, it was Trackmania Nations. With Trackmania United Forever, it is Trackmania Nations Forever. To build up anticipation for each game, the free counterpart is usually released on the internet before its counterpart ships to store shelves. United Forever is no exception.

Having finally shipped to store shelves (after being available on Steam for quite some time), United Forever is like every other game in the series, but improved in various ways. New modes, better controls, nicer graphics, and an overall better polish makes it a great PC racing game, especially considering the amount of user-created content. If you don't have Steam and have been jonesing to play, now's your chance to pick it up.

Trackmania Nations Forever released for free

As previously promised earlier this month, developer Nadeo and publisher Focus Home Interactive have now released the free full racing-puzzle game Trackmania Nations Forever for PC owners. Download links for the full game can be found at Focus's web site. The new game has all of the content of the original Trackmania Nations along with will a new solo mode, 65 new tracks and what they are calling the "Forever" version of their Stadium environment.

If you bought the retail version of Trackmania United you are now able to download a free expansion that will be online compatible with Nations Forever as well as some extra content including a graphics update as well as new tracks and design blocks. You can find download links at the Trackmania Nations message board.

Trackmania Nations Forever to be released for free

It's always a good thing to play a game for free and French developers Nadeo plan to offer PC gamers that opportunity on April 16 with the free release of Trackmania Nations Forever. The latest game in their cult hit racing-puzzle game series is a sequel to Trackmania Legends which Nadeo claims has been installed 30 million times since its release two years ago with four million PC accounts registered to play the game online. Trackmania Nations Forever will add a new solo mode, 65 new tracks and what they are calling the "Forever" version of their Stadium environment. If you bought the retail version of Trackmania United you will be able to download a free expansion that will be online compatible with Nations Forever as well as some extra content including a graphics update as well as new tracks and design blocks.
