The documentary film Second Skin, Directed by Juan Carlos Pineiro Escoriaza, examines the different aspects of the MMORPG's (Massively Multiplayer Role-Playing Games) phenomenal popularity, the culture that has grown around them and speaks to experts and developers about them. While the documentary has a tendency to fly in different directions in its attempt to cover every facet of gaming, it mainly focuses on three distinct stories. The first centers on a group of friends in Fort Wayne, Indiana who are dedicated World of Warcraft players; the second includes a budding romance between two EverQuest 2 players; and the last involves a man who hits rock bottom with his MMO addiction.

Dead Space: Downfall clip uses strong medicine

This clip, titled "Hospital Bed," comes from Dead Space: Downfall, the animated straight to DVD/Blu-ray movie that ties into both the game and online comic book. The clip is rated R and contains explicit violence and language, so no streaming version was made available. Dead Space is scheduled to release this month on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3. Dead Space: Downfall is expected to release on DVD and Blu-ray on October 28th.

"An ancient religious artifact has been recovered by a deep-space mining ship, and for the crew of the USG Ishimura, life just became a living hell. Unearthed on a far-away planet during a mining operation, the relic is worshiped by some, even seen as proof of God. But when it's removed from its resting place and brought on the ship, the artifact unleashes a long-dormant alien race, one bent on ripping apart -- and taking over -- every human aboard. Their screams CAN be heard in space ... but only the slashers are listening."

Bruce Willis in talks to portray Kane in Kane & Lynch film

According to Variety, Bruce Willis has been attached to the Hollywood movie adaptation of Eidos Interactive's video game Kane & Lynch: Dead Men. He's been selected to play Kane. The studio (Lionsgate) is still looking for someone to fill the role of Lynch.

The producers of the film have already adapted a video game to the big screen: they helmed the production of 2007's Hitman, another Eidos game. The film will be written by unknown screenwriter Kyle Ward, and directed by Simon Crane, who worked as a stunt director on many films including X-Men: The Last Stand and Titanic.

Don't do it Bruce! The game wasn't that good! We're not even sure why they're making a movie out of it. Even if everyone who bought the game went to see it, it would only gross $20 million; that might just barely pay Willis' salary!

BioShock to inject the silver screen with healthy dose of plasmids

Much like the main character when he enters the undersea city of Rapture, the executives out in Hollywood seem to have gotten plasmid fever. Thankfully, though, this isn't the literal fever of the game (which can only be assuaged with more plasmids), but rather the development of a BioShock movie.

The movie is being produced by Universal, and is being helmed by Gore Verbinski, whose works include the highly popular movies The Ring and Pirates of the Caribbean. It's also (possibly) being written by John Logan, whose screenplays have been nominated for and won Academy Awards (such as the scripts for Sweeney Todd and The Aviator). The future is looking brighter all the time.
