Slime City revealed

How would you like to play a game where you have to fight off a mess of slime? Indie game developer Black Jacket Studios hopes the answer to that question with, "Sure." The developer, who released the futuristic vehicle combat game Metal Drift a while back, has just announced plans for its next project, Slime City.

While details are slim at this point a post on the developer's official web site states that Slime City will be a "2D isometric strategy game" where the player has to fight off an invasion of "voracious slime" (as opposed to the non-voracious slime, we guess). It looks like development is still in the early stages and no release date was announced.

This Week In PC Games: October 19 - 25

This week gamers can be a evil Sith apprentice, a ruthless dictator and other roles in two retail releases and three downloadable titles.

Tropico 3: Publisher Kalypso Media revives this sim game franchise that was first started by 2K Games. Developer Haemimont Games created this third title in the series which puts the player in charge of an island nation. Will you be the typical island tyrant or a more benevolent leader? As usual there are pros and cons to both choices.

Metal Drift announced

The independent PC gaming field continues to expand and develop. One such new developer is Black Jacket Studios, a small operation out of Portland formed by former members of GarageGames. They decided to break away to create their own game and now they have revealed details and screenshots from their first title, Metal Drift.

The futuristic driving-action game puts players in a "hover-tank" in a first person viewpoint. Metal Drift is multiplayer oriented with 12 supported players in a stadium setting and support for 15 weapons and items. Plans are to offer downloadable add-ons for the game as well. There's no word on when the game will be released but the game's web site indicates that it might be launched on the free-to-play InstantAction.com site.
