This Mercenaries 2 trailer starts the way any good game should. This guy yearns for a mission that goes, boom, boom, and boom! Love the smell of napalm in the morning? The day just isn't complete until building explode with huge mushroom clouds? This trailer calls in the air strikes to satisfy those cravings.

During the assault of E3 festivities, GameTrailers.com was able to interview one of the designers working on Mercenaries 2: World in Flames, the oft-delayed but still anticipated action-oriented sandbox game due out later this year from Pandemic Studios. Designer Laura Paolilli walks GameTrailers through a mission entitled "Paint the Town," which highlights many features fans can look forward to in the Mercenaries sequel.

Our sister site (more like our mother site, really) Joystiq hosts a short-but-sweet interview with Mercenaries 2 senior producer Jonathan Zamkoff, offering a look at what to expect from the game's inclusion in next week's E3 trade show. Speaking of which, what should you expect to see from Mercenaries 2 next week?

"You're going to have to come by our booth to check out the latest and greatest, but it will be sweet- and hands on!" replied Jonathan Zamkoff.

Oh. Well, I guess you'll just have to wait for Joystiq's extensive coverage of the game next week. Too bad. But hey, the interview is still a good read, so check it out!

A new gameplay trailer for Pandemic Studios' Mercenaries 2: World in Flames has been released, demonstrating different ways to complete objectives throughout the game. Narrated by lead designer Scott Warner, the trailer shows how each of the three mercenaries in the game is capable of tackling objectives in different ways, all of which are viable if approached with the proper skill.

Mercenaries 2: World in Flames will be available for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC this August.
