Max Payne 3 comes out of the dark with two new screenshots

Max Payne 3 has been pretty much in hiding since the third game in the gritty action game series was first announced over two years ago by publisher Rockstar Games. Aside from a Game Informer cover story in June 2009 there's been no official word as to the status of Max Payne 3 and its release date has been pushed back many times.

Now there's actually some light at the end of the tunnel as Rockstar's Twitter page has posted up links to two new Max Payne 3 screenshots with only the words, "He's coming". The shots are pretty dark but at least we finally know the game is still in development. You can check out the other new screenshot after the jump.

Remedy co-founder departs to join Angry Birds developer Rovio

One of the founders of Remedy Entertainment, Petri Järvilehto, has decided to leave the Finland-based game developer to join another Finland game team, Rovio Media. Yep, that's the folks behind the hugely successful mobile phone game Angry Birds.

At Remedy, Järvilehto helped to develop the first two games in the Max Payne action game series along with last year's Xbox 360 exclusive game Alan Wake. In his new position at Rovio, he will be the company's new Senior Vice President of Console Development. As we reported last month the PC version of Angry Birds has been released via Intel's AppUp program.

Boot Disk: Max Payne

Sometimes you just need to sit down, slide a floppy into your A: drive, and enjoy gaming retro style. We know this all too well! That's why we have a list of the best and brightest from days long gone. These are some of our favorite games of all time, and we're sure that you'll love them as much as we do, if not more. Welcome to Boot Disk, and enjoy the retro ride!

The inclusion of what is described as "bullet time" can be seen as a cliche'd, trite addition made to drum up sales. This wasn't always the case, though. Not even 10 years ago, most games did not have bullet time or some analog thereof. It took one game to both coin the term and give rise to its inclusion in virtually every game under the sun. That game is Max Payne, and despite some flaws, it is a dark, bloody masterpiece that any action fan must play. It also helps that - despite being released quite some time ago - it is available through Steam. So let's take a grim look at this noir-inspired massacre of the underworld.

Steam replaces suspected pirated version of Max Payne 2

On Wednesday, rumors hit the internet that a pirated copy of Remedy's action game Max Payne 2 was the version that was being sold by Rockstar Games on the Steam service. While Rockstar did not respond to emai inquires about this issue it appears that the publisher has taken care of the issue.

According to Steam message board posts, the suspected pirated version has been replaced with one that seems to be truly legit. The only problem; that version is one that is slightly older than the pirated version. It still shouldn't be an issue for most people who want to download and play the game.

Steam offers Rockstar Games collection at 50 percent off this week

Valve may have just kicked off their new Steam web site and user interface for its client but that doesn't mean that they are slacking up on their game sales. Today they kicked off a week-long sale of their Rockstar Collection. It's a bundle of all 13 games that Steam sells from publisher Rockstar Games. For one week only the bundle costs just $42.49 for all 13 games.

But that's not all. Throughout the week Steam will cut the price of individual games from Rockstar down to the bone for brief periods of time (a couple of hours or so). One such sale for Grand Theft Auto: Vice City is now active. The price of that game will be just $2.50 from now until 6 pm Eastern time. You can get instant notification of other brief sales all this week if you join the official Steam Community group for Rockstar Games.
