This is the playable demo for the interactive physics based platforming adventure game, Max & the Magic Marker. Players take the role of Max, and using his magical magic marker, anything he draws becomes physical objects. Players will be use this tool to overcome different puzzles and challenges. "Max is a young boy, and like most boys he loves to draw. One day he gets a mysterious marker in the mail. There is no letter attached – only the plain orange marker. Max decides to test it right away, sits down and starts drawing. He draws a monster but as soon as he finishes the lines on the paper start moving and to Max's great surprise the monster runs off the paper and into another drawing. Stunned Max now sees how the Monster messes around with his drawings. Max realizes that he has to stop the monster. So he draws himself on the same drawing that the monster is in and immediately finds himself inside the drawing."

One of the more acclaimed recent indie games has been Max and the Magic Marker, a platformer that, like Crayon Physics Deluxe, uses in-game physics and a magical drawing device to solve its puzzles. Today Legacy Interactive announced it will publish the game in retail stores in North America sometime in April for $19.95

Developed by Denmark-based Press Play, the PC and Mac versions has been available via download from the game's official web site for a few months but this will be the first time the game will be available in a boxed version and sold in brick and mortar stores.

The Independent Games Festival awards a lot of stuff on their own and they will do so again next month during the 2010 Game Developers Conference, However one of their awards, the Vision Award, is given out with the help of the PC game download site Direct2Drive. The award gives $10,000 to a game that has "new ideas and concepts that will help spark innovation in gaming".

The five finalists this year for the second annual award include games about a daredevil cyclist, a magic drawing device and a living piece of meat. We will see which one of the five games below gets the Vision Award during the IGF 2010 ceremonies on March 11.
