Sometimes when you surf the Interwebs you encounter something a little unexpected. For us, it's finding out about a new Quake 3 engine based first person shooter title that's prepping for a July 28 release. The game is
Dark Salvation from indie developer
Mangled Eye Studios. The founder of the Cleveland, Ohio-based company is Thearrel Mckinney who previously worked as a level designer for the now defunct Ritual Entertainment.
As you can see from the screenshots the game definately has a retro
Doom-Quake-
Heretic look as you control a character named Talia. She apparently uses weapons and magic to fight off demons from the underworld. The game's official web site states that
Dark Salvation has 14 levels, 10 weapons, the abilty to use magic from those weapons and dozens of creatures. Mangled Eye Studios is currently taking pre-orders for the game on their site for $29.99. That gets you a boxed copy of the game along with a separate CD disk with the game's original soundtrack.
