Metal Savior announced

In 2009, indie game developer Mangled Eye Studios came out with their first commerical game, Dark Salvation. It was an old shooter, Doom-style shooter that used id Software's Quake III Arena graphics engine as its basis. Now the development studio is working on their next game, titled Metal Savior.

This new game will be more of a sci-fi title with a more fast paced arcade gameplay style. In fact it's described as "super duper fast" (we assume that's a technical term). A teaser site for Metal Savior is in place but it only has the message above and a sound bite. No release date for the game has been announced.

Dark Salvation now available as both download and mail order game

As promised a few weeks ago, indie game developer Mangled Eye Studios has now released their first person shooter Dark Salvation. The game, which uses id Software's id Tech 3 (Quake III Arena) graphics engine, definately has a retro Doom-Quake feel to its art style.

While there's no demo for the game, people can still purchase the full game via mail order as a two disk limited edition for $24.99. The first disk contains the game while the second is a CD with the game's soundtrack. You can also download the full version of the game from the Dark Salvation web site for $14.99.

Dark Salvation gets ready for late July release

Sometimes when you surf the Interwebs you encounter something a little unexpected. For us, it's finding out about a new Quake 3 engine based first person shooter title that's prepping for a July 28 release. The game is Dark Salvation from indie developer Mangled Eye Studios. The founder of the Cleveland, Ohio-based company is Thearrel Mckinney who previously worked as a level designer for the now defunct Ritual Entertainment.

As you can see from the screenshots the game definately has a retro Doom-Quake-Heretic look as you control a character named Talia. She apparently uses weapons and magic to fight off demons from the underworld. The game's official web site states that Dark Salvation has 14 levels, 10 weapons, the abilty to use magic from those weapons and dozens of creatures. Mangled Eye Studios is currently taking pre-orders for the game on their site for $29.99. That gets you a boxed copy of the game along with a separate CD disk with the game's original soundtrack.
