More weekend sales from Direct2Drive and GoG.com

Yesterday we gave you the heads-up on a ton of weekend PC game sales including the first such weekend sales for Microsoft's Games For Windows Live client. Now a couple of other sales have popped up that we want to give your attention to.

One is for GoG.com who have put all of the games they sell from publisher Majesco on sale. From now until Monday you can get all four games (Bloodrayne 1 and 2, Advent Rising and the great Psychonauts) together for just $15.96, a 50 percent discount. If you already own one or more of the games you can get the rest for 50 percent off. If you just want one or two games you can get them for a 30 percent discount.

Direct2Drive has also added a game, the fantasy action-RPG A Farewell to Dragons from 1C Company, to their sales list. You can download and purchase the game for just $7.50 from now until next Friday.

GoG.com adds BloodRayne 2 to DRM-free game line-up

With the news hitting the series of tubes this week that Uwe Boll is prepping to direct a third film in the BloodRayne series, you might forgive many people for perhaps wincing a bit that the franchise is best known for the crummy films than the solid action games they are based on from developer Terminal Reality.

This week the DRM-free web site GoG.com reminds us that the games were pretty darn good by adding the 2005-released BloodRayne 2 to its game line-up. The Majesco-published action title is selling on GoG.com for $9.99 and comes with some extras like a screensaver, some artwork and the soundtrack to the game. Now go find a blindfold to put over your eyes whenever any Uwe Boll-directed movie shows up on the TV.

Third Bloodrayne movie to begin production in January

Uwe Boll. You know him. You love to hate him. Now the director of not just some of the worst video game movies ever made but some of the worst films made, period, is getting things prepped to make a third flick based on the Terminal Reality-created Bloodrayne action-horror game franchise.

DreadCentral.com claims they got the info straight from Boll himself during a chat with the director at the American Film Market earlier this month. According to the article, the movie will be titled Bloodrayne 3: Warhammer and will begin production in January. Actress Kristanna Loken, who starred as the title character in the first Bloodrayne movie, will be wearing her vampire fangs once again for the third movie. Most interesting of all this third movie will be set during World War II which was also the time period for the first BloodRayne game. There's no word yet if the third flick will use any plot elements of the BloodRayne game.

Bloodrayne added to GoG.com game line-up

Last week GoG.com announced that they had brought in Majesco as their latest publisher that will provide the DRM-free PC game download site some of their game titles. Today the latest addition is arguably one of the publisher's most well know games. Bloodrayne, the 2002 released third person action game starring a "good" vampire with guns is now available to purchase and download via GoG.com for $5.99.

The GoG.com version of the Terminal Reality-developed game comes with some free extras like the game's soundtrack, concept artwork and avatars. The game itself was popular enough to spawn a sequel and Uwe Boll, director of so many bad films, helmed not one but two Bloodrayne movies. With vampires more popular than ever, perhaps its time for Bloodrayne to make a comeback.

Psychonauts and Advent Rising join GoG.com library

While Tim Schafer's latest game Brutal Legend has bypassed the PC completely, the last game his did for our platform has finally appeared over at the DRM-free download site GoG.com. Yes, Psychnoauts, the old platform game released in 2005 by publisher Majesco, can now be yours for the low price of $9.99. We can't recommend this game highly enough.

GoG.com has also added Advent Rising, the sci-fi third person action game that Majesco also first released in 2005. While not nearly as good as Psychonauts it was made by the team that now heads up Chair Entertainment and features a story developed by Orson Scott Card. You can grab it at GoG.com for just $5.99.

FusionFall officially launches

It's one of the most mainstream MMO titles made for a Western audience and today Cartoon Network's FusionFall title officially came out of beta. While you can download and play the game now publisher Majesco has also shipped the game as a retail product with four months of free online play and some exclusive in-game items.

Developed by Korean based Grigon Entertainment, FusionFall puts a number of the cable TV network's characters into one virtual universe which the player can explore. Big Download has covered FusionFall's development including a preview and some hands-on beta impressions. Our sister site Massively has posted up some new impressions today.

Double Fine launches Psycho-pedia Wiki web site

Tim Schafer's 2005 released platform action game Psychonauts from his development studio Double Fine may have been a sales bomb but the Majesco published game still has a huge fan following. Now Double Fine has taken the unusual move of launching an official respository of all things about the game in a Wiki style web site titled (what else?) the Psycho-pedia.

The Wiki style format allows fans of the game to submit and edit their own entries into the web site. There's even an entry on a (currenly imaginary) idea for Psychonauts 2. We can only dream can't we. Meanwhile, Double Fine is working on their next game, the console-only (sob) Brutal Legend.

Majesco Entertainment announces Orchard

Some of my earliest computer gaming memories are of Lemonade Stand, a simplistic business game on the Apple ][ that challenged gamers to run a successful lemonade stand. Coincidentally, I'd like to admit that selling glasses of lemonade for $25 wasn't my best idea. Hey, live and learn.

In the vein of such memorable strategy games is BoomZap Entertainment's Orchard, a game that charges players with overseeing their family's orchard. Published by Majesco Entertainment, Orchard integrates business and resource management with addictive simulation play that PC gamers will find both challenging and entertaining," according to Gui Karyo, Executive Vice President of Operations for Majesco.

Orchard will be available later this fall.
