Capcom and Warner Bros. confirm Lost Planet movie

Earlier this year we reported that screenwriter David Hayter had revealed his plans to try to bring about a Lost Planet movie. Now Variety has finally confirmed that such a project is indeed in the works with Warner Bros. Hayter, who just finished work on co-writing the script for Watchmen, will handle scriptwriting duties. The movie, based on the Capcom sci-fi action game, will be produced by Seaside Entertainment which is co-founded by former Marvel Studios head man Avi Arad. Capcom has of course had three Resident Evil movies released and a new Street Fighter movie is in production....

Lost Planet movie in the works

Evil Avatar's latest radio broadcast had a chat with David Hayter who is best known in gaming circles for his voice work as Solid Snake in Konami's Metal Gear Solid series. However, Hayter is also a screenwriter who is best known for his work on the first two X-Men films. Well, Hayter told the radio broadcast that he may be merging his two interests. He told Evil Avatar Radio that he is working with Warner Bros. on developing a script based on Capcom's sci-fi action game Lost Planet. It sounds like things are at an early stage and since this is Hollywood there's likely a good chance this movie won't ever be made. Still it's not that big of a shock since Capcom is already working on a Street Fighter film and has other game-to-movie projects in the works....

Capcom's 2007 sci-fi action game Lost Planet is about to get a revamp later this month with the release of Lost Planet Colonies. We's reported about this game before; new single and multiplayer modes, new maps, new weapons and cross platform multiplayer support between the PC and Xbox 360 versions via Games for Windows Live (it will be only the third game to offer such support, Shadowrun and Universe at War: Earth Assault are the other two).Today Capcom released a boatload of new screenshots from Lost Planet Colonies that show off scenes from one of the new multiplayer modes, Egg Bandit. New Lost Planet Colonies screenshots show off Akrid Hunt goodness

Capcom's upcoming release of their sci-fi action game Lost Planet Colonies is shaping up to be far more than just the typical revision of an older title. The new version of the game (released back in 2007 simply as Lost Planet) will have a ton of new single and multiplayer modes added to the original. Some new screenshots from the game have been released and show off our favorite new mode, Akrid Hunt, where one player gets to control the massive Akrid monster while other players try desperately to bring it down. Some of the new screenshots also show off some of the new character models in the game (including one who apparently thinks this is a clothing-optional game). In addition to the new modes, Lost Planet Colonies will also add new weapons, maps and the ability for PC players to play against Xbox 360 players in cross-platform multiplayer. Look for the game to be released to stores in late May for the bargain price of $29.95...
