Majesty 2 and LucasArts adventure pack on sale on Steam [Update]

The Steam service is getting started earlly with a couple of big PC game sales on its site. One is for Majesty 2, the recent fantasy strategy-sim game from 1C Company and Paradox Interactive. The game is currently on sale for just $7.50, a 75 percent cut from its normal price. Steam has also just added the recently released expansion pack to the game, Kingmaker, to its line-up.

Also on sale from now until Thursday is the LucasArts Adventure Pack. The bundle of four classic games from the publisher, including Loom, The Dig, Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, for $4.99. The Adventure Pack is for both PC and Mac and supports SteamPlay so if you purchase the pack for the PC you get the Mac version of the games for free and vise versa.

Update: Steam has also put two more Paradox Interactive games, Europa Universalis III Complete and Hearts of Iron III, on sale for 50 percent off.

LucasArts to offer downloadable games via Steam Wednesday [Update]


Teased in a Twitter post, LucasArts has officially announced what they meant by an "old school" game announcement. As it turns out, they publisher is finally allowing some of their classic PC games to be made available via download from Valve's Steam service.

The service will begin with 10 titles that will be added to Steam beginning Wednesday in what is descibed as the "first round" of LucasArts games to be made available on Steam. So if your favorite game isn't listed it's likely that it will be added to the Steam service at a later date. Further additions will be announced, natch, via LucasArts' Twitter page. Update: For all you sticklers out there, according to Joystiq, the version of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade: The Graphic Adventure that will be offered via Steam will actually be a "previously unreleased version". This version of the 1992 title will have "even more bugfixes" than the CD-ROM re-release.

We Love The 90s (for PC Games) : 1990-1991

PC gaming has been around since, well, PCs have existed. However the platform always seemed to get the short end of the attention stick compared to console game titles (with a few exceptions). That all changed in the 1990s as PC gaming entered a new golden age. With developments like shareware titles, CD-Rom games, Internet-based titles, Windows 95 and more powerful PCs, quite a few titles got a ton of attention and sales.

In this new multi-part feature we look back at that glorious decade of the 1990s as we focus on just some of the games that we loved to play (and in some cases still play) from that decade. Today we look back at a few of our favorite titles from 1990 and 1991:
