Lionheart: Kings' Crusade changes name to The Kings' Crusade; DLC packs coming

It's not unusual for a game to have a title change before it's released but its rare for a game to change its title after it comes out. That's what's happening with Lionheart: King's Crusade, the recent historical RTS game from developer NeoCore Games and publisher Paradox Interactive. Saying that the original title was "a bit of a mouthful" the game will now be called simply The King's Crusade.

Along with the name change, Paradox announced two upcoming DLC packs, one of them for The King's Crusade called Arabian Nights. The DLC is due out on February 8. The second DLC pack, Teutonic Knights, is for Neocore's eariler game Crusaders: Thy Kingdom Come but it does not yet have a release date.

Lionheart: Kings' Crusade gets new lower price and paid DLC

Lionheart: Kings' Crusade has been out from publisher Paradox Interactive for some time now. Today Paradox announced that the historical RTS game from developer NeoCore Games now has a new permanent lower price of $29.99. Also a previously released DLC pack is now available for purchase (the New Allies DLC was previously made available for people who bought the game before October 17 for free).

The $4.99 DLC contains six new units (Gascon Knights, Ayyubid Bowmen, Ayyubid Infantry, Ayyubid Swordsmen, Archer Elite, and Hungarian Light Cavalry). It also has two new Hero units (Taqi al-Din Umar and Arthur of Brittany) and three non-historical Hero units (The Ghost of Godfrey of Toulouse, Joan d'Arc and Lancelot)

Lionheart Kings Crusade gets free DLC pack until October 17

The just released historical RTS game Lionheart Kings Crusade is wasting no time in offering some downloadable content for its players. Today it was announced that people who purchase the Paradox Interactive-published game from now until October 17 will be able to get the first DLC pack for free.

The New Allies pack contains two new heroes and six new units (Gascon Knights, Ayyubid Bowmen, Ayyubid Infantry, Ayyubid Swordsmen, Archer Elite, and Hungarian Light Cavalry). It also contains some decidedly un-historical unit extras such as Lancelot, The Ghost of Godfrey of Toulouse and even Saracens from Outer Space. There's no word on what the DLC will cost once the free period is over.

This Week In PC Games - October 4-10

With some last minute changes to a few PC game release dates, this week is looking a bit bare in terms of new game titles. However there is a free campaign to download for a popular zombie shooter along with a historical RTS game and even a basketball title.
Left 4 Dead 1/2: The Sacrifice: Both of Valve's zombie shooters will be getting the same DLC on Tuesday with The Sacrifice telling the final tale of the original game's cast. While officially Bill bites it at the end, players can choose which character has to take it on the chin. Left 4 Dead 2 players can also download the original game's No Mercy campaign.

Lionheart: Kings' Crusade pits medieval factions against each other

Battlefield tactics games, like Myth or the Total War series, have this distinct charm to them. There's nothing quite like watching your forces slaughter enemies on actual battlefields, as opposed to the stylized nature of turn-based strategy games or finicky gameplay of real-time strategy. Lionheart: Kings' Crusade is a firm follower of this tactical tradition, and this newest trailer shows off some of the different factions you will encounter on the battlefield. The two that are important are the Arabs and the Crusaders, which have the most prominent positions in this trailer.

Lionheart: King's Crusade due out on October 8

Paradox Interactive's busy 2010 publishing schedule will continue next month. The company announced today that the historical RTS title Lionheart: King's Crusade from developer NeoCore Games will be released on October 8. NeoCore previously released a similar game called Crusaders: Thy Kingdom Come but this is a new project from the developer.

The game itself is set in between the years 1189-1192 as players can control the armies of the crusader Richard the Lionheart or the armies of the Middle Eastern ruler Saladin. Needless to say the game will allow players to get these two armies together for a Holy Wars throwdown.
