Fans of the original Left 4 Dead have a lot to look forward to when the newest DLC expansion, called The Sacrifice, releases next week. Developed simultaneously for both Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2 as a prequel to The Passing, which released in April.

Left 4 Dead players will receive the complete campaign playable in Campaign, Verses and Survival mode. Left 4 Dead 2 owners will be able to play through The Sacrifice using the original L4D characters. Additionally, the "No Mercy" campaign will be ported over to the sequel to support new weapons, items and special infected. Both can be played in Campaign, Verses, Survival and Scavenge mode.

The Sacrifice is set to release next week on October 5th for free for PC and Mac gamers.

Valve continues to tell the new tale of the first cast of Left 4 Dead in online comic book form. Today the game's official web site launched part 2 of The Sacrifice which relates the tale of what happened to the foursome of Valve's first zombie shooter before they encounter the Left 4 Dead 2 cast in the recent DLC The Passing.

In addition to the JPG web based version, you can also now download both part 1 and part 2 of The Sacrifice comic as a PDF file. The comic will also be released sometime in the future as a JPG with no text and as a JPG with no text, speech bubbles or sound effects. The Sacrifice DLC is still scheduled for release on October 4.
