Left 4 Dead DLC trailer shows the meaning of Sacrifice

Fans of the original Left 4 Dead have a lot to look forward to when the newest DLC expansion, called The Sacrifice, releases next week. Developed simultaneously for both Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2 as a prequel to The Passing, which released in April.

Left 4 Dead players will receive the complete campaign playable in Campaign, Verses and Survival mode. Left 4 Dead 2 owners will be able to play through The Sacrifice using the original L4D characters. Additionally, the "No Mercy" campaign will be ported over to the sequel to support new weapons, items and special infected. Both can be played in Campaign, Verses, Survival and Scavenge mode.

The Sacrifice is set to release next week on October 5th for free for PC and Mac gamers.

Left 4 Dead 2 Guide: Just Passing By

Much like Crash Course about six months ago, Valve has released a new campaign for Left 4 Dead 2. Those that have been starved for new experiences in one of the best co-op shooters ever will be delighted to know that this expansion is completely free! It adds a number of new goodies alongside the new campaign, which makes it more than just the two-map experience that Crash Course was. However, with all this new stuff, it's easy to get overwhelmed and not see or experience everything. Thankfully, there's a guide for all of this, and it's right here!

Left 4 Dead 2 Guide: Flee the Parish

It's been a year since the incredibly addicting and entertaining zombie killfest Left 4 Dead was unleashed, and Valve has released its sequel to an excited consumer base. Filled with Spitters, Witches, Fuel, and Cola, it's a great new romp for those that loved the original. It's also much more difficult. For those that can't handle what the new AI Director is throwing at them, don't worry. We've got your back with this handy guide!

It's time to enter the Crescent City. You've been progressing through a variety of Deep South locations, but you haven't quite hit one of the most major: New Orleans. This is the setting of The Parish, the one campaign which doesn't stick all that well to its name. Regardless, this is the end of the road for our Left 4 Dead 2 heroes, as they aim to escape in a military chopper to a safe zone. Assuming it doesn't crash like the chopper from Dark Carnival did. Regardless, prepare for some more daylight action and a unique and pulse-pounding finale.

Left 4 Dead 2 Guide: Flood of Hard Rain

Filled with Spitters, Witches, Fuel, and Cola, it's a great new romp for those that loved the original. It's also much more difficult. You've boarded the ship and are now heading to safety... only the boat is running out of fuel. It's time to go inland and help get the supplies you need to restock. This is the gist of Hard Rain, which starts off relatively normal and then ratchets up the intensity with the second stage. It's an incredibly unique campaign, probably the most of the five present in Left 4 Dead 2, thanks to a number of features. Rising flood water, backtracking, and avoiding Witches are just a sample of what awaits you.

Left 4 Dead 2 Guide: Catching Swamp Fever

It's been a year since the incredibly addicting and entertaining zombie killfest Left 4 Dead was unleashed, and Valve has released its sequel to an excited consumer base. Filled with Spitters, Witches, Fuel, and Cola, it's a great new romp for those that loved the original. It's also much more difficult. It's time for us to once again change the venue of Left 4 Dead 2. In this case, we are up for Swamp Fever, the other four-stage campaign available for Left 4 Dead 2. Taking place is a creepy swamp in the middle of the night, it's definitely a startling experience, especially in the variety to be had with a campaign so singularly devoted to the swamp. Each stage is longer than your average stage, which is another interesting element. Still, you have to survive those crazy lurking swamp people somehow.

Left 4 Dead 2 Guide: Hosting a Dark Carnival

It's been a year since the incredibly addicting and entertaining zombie killfest Left 4 Dead was unleashed, and Valve has released its sequel to an excited consumer base. Filled with Spitters, Witches, Fuel, and Cola, it's a great new romp for those that loved the original. It's also much more difficult. Are you afraid of clowns? We sure hope not, since it's time for a campaign designed to scare all of those coulrophobes out there. Dark Carnival is the campaign, and it is a return to form. Following the model of the original, you're up for four carnival-themed maps and one intense finale. It is night-time once again, and while the first map looks like it came straight out of Left 4 Dead, you're in for some treats for the last four. Oh, and you may notice something else: the campaign is linked to the one before and after it. All of the campaigns in Left 4 Dead 2 link into each other and play out in chronological order, with the first campaign being the start of the game and the fifth being the end.

Left 4 Dead 2 Guide: Hit 'Em Dead Center

It's been a year since the incredibly addicting and entertaining zombie killfest Left 4 Dead was unleashed, and Valve has released its sequel to an excited consumer base. Filled with Spitters, Witches, Fuel, and Cola, it's a great new romp for those that loved the original. It's also much more difficult. Left 4 Dead 2's campaigns are a bit different from the camapgins in the original. There is a lot more variety, and we don't just mean in how the weapons are placed. There's new Crescendo Events (those events you do which call Infected to you) that aim to change up the gameplay a great deal, and the finales have been revamped to be far more interesting than simply defending a single point. Nothing exemplifies this new design more than Dead Center, which incorporates all of the new things about Left 4 Dead 2 into a quick, relatively easy package. I say relatively because Dead Center is quite hard compared to Left 4 Dead, but much easier than the rest of the campaigns.

Left 4 Dead 2 Guide: Knowing Your Arsenal

It's been a year since the incredibly addicting and entertaining zombie killfest Left 4 Dead was unleashed, and Valve has released its sequel to an excited consumer base. Filled with Spitters, Witches, Fuel, and Cola, it's a great new romp for those that loved the original. It's also much more difficult. While Left 4 Dead promised a ton of content, it fell flat when it came to weapons and goodies. There were only two basic weapons, three advanced weapons, and one slot per each special extra such as pills, medic packs, and grenades. There were no melee weapons whatsoever in the line-up. Not only that, but the AI Director was rather boring, with a few set spots where he would set up weapon stocks for players to loot. Left 4 Dead 2, however, amps this into overdrive. A collection of new equipment that drastically change how you play as well as some new changes to the AI Director makes Left 4 Dead 2 far more replayable than the original.

Left 4 Dead 2 Guide: Identifying New Threats

Left 4 Dead 2 introduces three new Special Infected, tweaks some of the original Infected, and introduces a new class: the Uncommon Infected. All in all, there are now a total of 14 different kinds of zombies! However, the Common Infected and three of the original five Special Infected have not changed at all from their original incarnations beyond minor cosmetic changes. If you want a general overview of the original cast of Infected, the Left 4 Dead identification guide has all you need.
