Eets gets Mac port and sale on Steam until Thursday

Before developer Klei Entertainment released its ultra-violent downloadable platformer game Shank earlier this year, the team released the adorable casual game Eets in 2006. The Lemmings-like puzzle-platformer game is now getting a new lease on life via Steam with the new release of a Mac port. As with all Mac games on Steam that have PC game counterparts, folks who already own the PC version can get the Mac port for free and vice versa.

In order to celebrate the Mac port's release, Eets is also getting a big price drop. Until mid-day on Thursday the game is on sale for just $2.50, a 75 percent price cut.

Review: Shank

Shank is not an ambitious game. This much is clear from the very beginning, and the impression persists throught the hyper-violent brawler. Shank is a game about linear, cartoonish murder, and it doesn't care about things such as innovation. It wants you to kill bad guys and spray the walls with their candy apple red gore. So why is a game so unabashedly straightforward one of most interesting games from EA in a while? It's pretty simple, really: it satisfies even the harshest and most grating desire for blood. Given the already intensely violent atmosphere of gaming today, this is a pretty impressive feat.

Shank PC demo on Steam; update coming soon

If you have yet to purchase developer Klei Entertainment's PC version of its comic book-styled violent 2D platformer Shank, there's a special surprise waiting for you on Steam. The developer apparently sneaked in a free PC demo for the game on Steam without too many people seeing it.

If you have already bought the game but have encountered some issues while playing it, Klei Entertainment is apparently on top of it as well. The game's official blog site has posted word that an update to the PC port is in the works and could be released early next week. The issues encountered by some players range from the game running at double speed to not being able to load save games.

Interview: We chat with Klei Entertainment's CEO on the PC port of Shank

It's a game that has an ultra-violent main character, has a cool comic book art style and is just plain fun to play. It's Shank, the newest game from developer Klei Entertainment. Released via download for consoles earlier this year from publisher Electronic Arts, Shank is now available to purchase and download via Steam starting today.

So why should you get Shank for the PC and how has the game been changed, if any, for the PC platform? We got answers to those questions and even more via Klei Entertainment's CEO and Shank's co-creator Jamie Cheng.

DeathSpank brings Justice to the PC this month

Both EA and developer Hothead Games have been vague and a little non-committal about bringing the humorous action RPG DeathSpank to the PC. Well, that's no longer the case, since DeathSpank has been officially announced for both PC and Mac! The game will release via Steam on October 26, and pre-order customers will receive a 10 percent discount off the $14.99 price tag. Note that the release date reflects the PC version only. A Mac OS port is currently in development, but no official release date has been announced.

Action game fans can further their saving by purchasing the bloody violent action game Shank (developed by Klei Entertainment) alongside DeathSpank in the "Shank and 'Spank" Bundle. Customers that pre-order this two game bundle receive a 15 percent discount on the purchase, making for a fantastic value. If you want to get into the spirit of Shanking before the game releases of the PC, the official soundtrack is available to download for free here.

Shank launch trailer cuts deep while rocking a free soundtrack

Shank, the 2D side scrolling action adventure with a sharp edge, releases on Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network this week, with a PC launch expected in the fall. This launch trailer celebrates the momentous occasion, but that's not all. Since the Shank Facebook page was able to reach its goal of 1,500 fans, the developers at Klei Entertainment are rewarding fans by releasing the official game soundtrack in its entirety for free. That's 13 tracks of bloodthirsty, revenge seeking, DRM-free love. The track list is shown after the jump.

Shank costume unlocks revealed; soundtrack samples released

The cool looking (and very violent) side-scrolling title Shank is getting ready for its console download release next week (it's still due for the PC later this fall) and today developer Klei Entertainment has posted up a few of the many costume unlocks you can get while playing the game.

Three of the 11 costume unlocks are shown above and more will be revealed each day until the game's console release. From the silhouettes it looks like there will be a Wolverine-like alternate along with what looks like a certain Disney character. Odd. Klei has also released six of the game's music tracks which you can download in a bundle here at Big Download.

Shank trailer spills a lot of blood at E3 2010

Shank is really a game that doesn't need any introduction. The upcoming downloadable 2D brawler would probably stab the introduction and throw it off a cliff anyway.

"Shank invites players to let loose with multiple weapons and rack up the kills with an exciting and free flowing combo system. Rip through the ranks of a legion of gang members to compete against friends on Shank's online leaderboards. Featuring a captivating art style inspired by golden age comics and graphic novels, Shank's blend of classic intense 2D action with a mature and gripping storyline makes it one of the most anticipated downloadable titles this year."

Shank to get assist from God of War writer Marianne Krawczyk

One of the two downloadable games Electronic Arts plans to release this summer (alongside Deathspank) is developer Klei Entertainment's cartoony style platform game Shank. Today EA revealed that Marianne Krawczyk, best known for her BAFTA-award winning writing work for the God of War games for Sony, will be the scriptwriter for Shank as well.

Despite its art style Shank, (both the game and the lead title character) is going to get pretty violent. On the surface this would seem to make the writer who helped to develop Kratos to be a perfect pick to help expand the characters and universe for Shank. EA plans to unleash it for the PC later this summer.
