Kings and Castles dev team gets lots of love in latest video blog

Usually on the weekly development video blog for the upcoming fantasy RTS game Kings and Castles, we get to see one or two Gas Powered Games team members work. Not this week, though. The newest installment of the video blog has a ton of team members being bothered interviewed by Gas Powered's head man Chris Taylor.

One new addition to the team is see working on the development tools that will later be released to the public. Yet another team member is working on some issues the game has with making wall. Two more team members are seen collaborating on yet another issue. And one coffee-drinking team addition is working on "top secret" stuff. Plus we see G4 in the house briefly and a bottle of scotch. You do the math

Kings and Castles' latest video blog is extra-sized for your pleasure

The weekly video blogs for Kings and Castles have been very entertaining and informative for the most part and this week's installment is no exception, except for the fact that it's over 6 minutes long which is about twice the length of the normal video blog.

So what do we get for those extra three minutes or so? Plenty. We go behind the scenes at several of Gas Powered Games' team members as they work on separate aspects of the upcoming fantasy RTS title. We learn stuff about Legendary units and zooming in and out of maps and lots more. We also get some more fan suggestions and a nice piece of fan submitted art. All in all the extra time is worth it this week.

Latest Kings and Castles video blog asks fans for input on Direct X use

Developer Gas Powered Games is still in pre-production on their upcoming fantasy RTS game Kings and Castles. And because the game is still relatively early in development the latest video blog is asking fans for their input. Specifically the dev team wants to ask fans which DirectX graphics version should be the base graphics set for the game.

Should it be DirectX 9, which can be run on the vast majority of PCs but sacrifies some visual flair? Maybe DirectX 10 which increases the graphics curve but also increases the minimal hardware specs? Or should Gas Powered make Kings and Castles a DirectX 11 exclusive with super advanced graphical features but a very small (at the moment) user base?

The video blog also has some reader questions answered, a quick look at Chris Taylor's game and console collection and an unfortunate accident at the end. It's messy.

Kings and Castles video blog answers some questions

Last week's video blog for Gas Powered Games' upcoming fantasy RTS game Kings and Castles was perhaps the only one out of the first half-year of the blogs to leave us kind of cold. Thankfully the developer is back in true goofy form for the 27th weekly video blog this week.

We begin with watching several of the development team members play test an early multiplayer mode for Kings and Castles. Then Gas Powered's head man Chris Taylor answers some questions from fans such as if terrain will play a role in the game (yep) how big will the maps be (very big) and if there will be navies in the game (yes to that, too). Plus there's a final and out of place sequence that's kind of funny. Enjoy.

New Kings and Castles video blog is, well . . .

The latest video blog for Gas Powered Games' upcoming fantasy RTS game Kings and Castles is now live and in color. And if we are being completely honest with you (to quote Simon Cowell) it's not quite the best blog episode we have seen from the developer. It looks and feels like it was made from some previous video blog footage that got left on the cutting room floor and someone picked that footage out and made a whole episode out of it.

But that's OK, Chris Taylor and Gas Powered Games. You have now made 26 video blogs, one every week, so we will forgive you if one or two of them are not quite up to our standards. In any case in this episode we briefly get to meet a couple more Gas Powered team members, get a tiny more info revealed about the game, and, well, that's about it. Onto next week.

New Kings and Castles video blog talks about mods and more

Yes, there have been 25 video blogs of Kings and Castles since developer Gas Powered Games announced the development of the upcoming fantasy RTS game. For this important milestone, the video blog episode this week is, well, a fairly typical one for the series. That is to say, this video is full of craziness.

This week the episode gives us some more info on what mod support will be put into Kings and Castles as the dev team talks about making things simple for mod makers. Plus a new unit is introduced, more archer footage, a preview of showing a design meeting, and more stuff. Here's to 25 more episodes like this.

New Kings and Castles video blog takes us out for burgers

It looks like we are going on a field trip again in the newest video blog for Kings and Castles. Gas Powered Games' head man Chris Taylor goes to Dick's Burgers in Seattle and meets up with a new fan for the upcoming fantasy RTS game.

The video blog does go into some production issues on the game including some very preliminary work on the game's archer units. Also we check out a new way to map large maps. And Taylor confirms that Kings and Castles will support both multi-monitors and 3D monitors. Plus a brief word on what the game's economy will be like.

Mmmm...burgers.

New Kings and Castles video blog goes on a field trip

It's rare that the video blogs for the upcoming fantasy RTS game Kings and Castles venture out of the offices of its developer Gas Powered Games. This week is an exception, however, as Gas Powered's head man Chris Taylor travels down the road to check out the offices of Digital Double.

The Redmond, Washington-based company handles both motion capture as well as 3D art outsourcing and in this video blog we get to see the company's talents on making a cyclops unit for Kings and Castles. Plus there's some guitar and drum playing, a discussion on chicken tenders and a quick teleportation scene. Really, it's cool.

New Kings and Castles video blog talks about formations and resources

Formations. They are a part of all RTS games but its a feature that perhaps doesn't get as much attention from game developers. That's not the case with Kings and Castles, the upcoming fantasy RTS game from developer Gas Powered Games. In the newest weekly video blog for the game, we get a little more info on how formations will work.

For one thing the development team is working to make formations and units not line up perfectly straight for a more realistic feel. And it looks like Gas Powered will be giving players an in-game unit formation editor. Plus more info about what the game's resources will be like, a mage's special ability and an Uwe Boll reference.

New Kings and Castles video goes over several subjects

It's another weekend to ponder, think and relax while watching another video blog from Gas Powered Games promoting its upcoming RTS game Kings and Castles. This week there's a lot of stuff to ponder along with Gas Powered head man's Chris Taylor's usual foolishness.

This week he answers questions from fans about unit morale in the game, if any beta will be public or private and if he just wanders around the offices annoying his employee (Answer: Yes!) Plus there's a brief video showing some of the game's different unit formations, a visit to Magic Mushroom Land and a final and spectacular user-made high-five.
