Jamie Foxx joins Bruce Willis in Kane and Lynch movie adaptation

The long dormant film adaptation of Io Interactive's action game franchise Kane and Lynch just got a big boost today when it was announced that Academy Award winner Jamie Foxx has been named to play James Lynch in the movie. Foxx will join Bruce Willis who was named to play Adam "Kane" Marcus in the film adaptation way back in 2008.

Variety reports that the movie is now set to being filming in August which ironically is also when the game's sequel Kane and Lynch 2: Dog Days is supposed to be released by Square Enix. Second-unit movie director Simon Crane is making his feature film directorial debut. Kyle Ward is writing the script for Millennium Films.

Kane and Lynch 2: Dog Days officially annouced

In 2007, Eidos released Kane and Lynch: Dead Men from developer Io Interactive. The co-op themed third person shooter got mixed reviews, a movie deal and indirectly lead to a mass exodus of Gamespot team members. Now the newly renamed Square Enix Europe has officially announced that Kane and Lynch 2: Dog Days is coming to your PC hard drive, if you dare, sometime in 2010. Despite the recent name change in the publisher, the game will still be released with the Eidos brand.

Expect to see lots of shaky camera work in the sequel as the official press release claims that the game "is inspired by documentary filmmakers and the user-generated era." You can expect to see lots of bullets fly out as the duo cuts a bloody chunk out of "the gritty Shanghai underworld." Hopefully it won't cut a chuck out of a gaming web site's personnel this time.

Eidos supports Novint Falcon

Eidos has announced their participation as the latest publisher to support the Novint Falcon, a controller that claims to give gamers a greater advantage in three-dimensional video games by applying tactile control.

What sort of touch sensations will the Novint Falcon offer Eidos titles? "Simply imagine the feel of sandstone in your palms or the weight of a gun in your hand, and you've got the general idea," writes 1UP. Eidos plans support for Tomb Raider: Legend, Hitman: Blood Money, 25 to Life, Just Cause, BattleStations: Midway, and Kane and Lynch: Dead Men by the end of 2008.

In June, developer Valve announced future Novint Falcon support for The Orange Box, a collection containing Half-Life 2, Half-Life 2: Episodes One and Two, Portal, and Team Fortress 2. The Falcon will reportedly allow gamers to feel the weight of holding different objects with the gravity gun, the recoil of guns, and more.

Bruce Willis in talks to portray Kane in Kane & Lynch film

According to Variety, Bruce Willis has been attached to the Hollywood movie adaptation of Eidos Interactive's video game Kane & Lynch: Dead Men. He's been selected to play Kane. The studio (Lionsgate) is still looking for someone to fill the role of Lynch.

The producers of the film have already adapted a video game to the big screen: they helmed the production of 2007's Hitman, another Eidos game. The film will be written by unknown screenwriter Kyle Ward, and directed by Simon Crane, who worked as a stunt director on many films including X-Men: The Last Stand and Titanic.

Don't do it Bruce! The game wasn't that good! We're not even sure why they're making a movie out of it. Even if everyone who bought the game went to see it, it would only gross $20 million; that might just barely pay Willis' salary!
