Jagged Alliance 2: Reloaded now called Jagged Alliance: Back in Action

The Jagged Alliance turn-based strategy franchise has been threatening its comeback for some time and now a planned graphical remake of Jagged Alliance 2 has gotten a new name and a new US publisher. BitComposer Games announced today that the remake, previously known as Jagged Alliance 2 Reloaded, will now be known as Jagged Alliance: Back In Action.

The game will still feature the player controlling a squad of mercenaries in a series of hot spot missions. The game will be published this fall in the UK via Kalypso Media. Kalypso will also publish the game in Asia and other English-speaking countries while BitComposer will publish the title in other European countries.

Jagged Alliance 2: Reloaded announced

Hot on the heads of the news earlier this week of the upcoming browser-based game Jagged Alliance Online comes word of yet another new game (sort of) for the turn-based tactical strategy series. BitComposer Games has just announced plans to release Jagged Alliance 2: Reloaded, a graphical remake of the last game in the series that was first released in 1999 from the now defunct developer Sir-Tech.

The new version will feature a full 3D engine but will retain the original's isometric view point. It will also have a revamped user interface and "an extensive tutorial will ease the player into the complex game rules system." The game is due for release sometime in 2011. BitComposer Games has already announced plans to release the long awaited Jagged Alliance 3 for release sometime in 2011 as well.

Jagged Alliance Online announced

Yet another PC game franchise is getting a rebirth as a free-to-play game. Today Gamigo and BitComposer Games announced plans for Jagged Alliance Online, a revival of the classic turn-based strategy series that began in the 1990's by the now defunct SirTech.

The browser-based game will supposedly "built around the familiar Jagged Alliance games mechanics". As with the original games you will control a squad of mercenaries in an isometric viewpoint with turn-based and real time strategy mixed in the game design broth. The "Online" part of the game comes in when you can team up with friends for alliances or even borrow some of your buddies mercs to get the dirty job done. It's set for release in 2011.

Jagged Alliance 3 gets new publisher

On Monday we reported that Kalypso Media had taken over the publishing duties of Disciples 3 from its former publisher Strategy First. Today another Strategy First owned game, Jagged Alliance 3, also has a new owner in BitComposer Games. Indeed BitComposer claims they now own the full Jagged Alliance IP aside from a social networking-based game that's currently under development at Strategy First. Financial terms were not disclosed

BitComposer claims they are aiming for a 2011 release date for Jagged Alliance 3, a game that's been in development off and on for the past several years with a number of developers. The Jagged Alliance series is a turn-based strategy game with modern day mercenaries who complete missions and take down enemies such as military dictators. BitComposer says that for Jagged Alliance 3 they want to "preserve the popular basic concept of the previous versions and place it in a contemporary setting."
