Hunted The Demon's Forge to get map creator

Hunted The Demon's Forge just got even more interesting. The upcoming co-op themed fantasy action-RPG from developer inXile Entertainment and publisher Bethesda Softworks has revealed to some web sites plans to include a map creator for the game.

The map creator is called The Crucible. Eurogamer quotes inXile's Matt Finley as saying, "Basically we want users to be able to create maps and share them with their friends. And you'll be able to take your characters through maps." There are no other details on how The Crucible feature will work but we should learn more before Hunted The Demon's Forge will be released on June 1.

Hunted: The Demon's Forge trailer avoids massive eyes

The few trailers we've seen for Hunted: The Demon's Forge have been primarily story and cinematic focused. This trailer, however, takes a decidedly different turn. It shows off the co-op action title from the player's perspective, and gives us plenty of juicy information on the game's mechanics. Our favorite is the combined force of both players working together, such as one player freezing an enemy while the other smashes it to pieces. However, it doesn't reveal how the combat is played, just how it looks from an external viewpoint.

Hunted: The Demon's Forge due for release June 1

Publisher Bethesda Softworks will have a very busy 2011. In addition to May's release of Brink, September's launch of Rage and November's The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim, the company announced today that the fantasy action-RPG Hunted: The Demon's Forge now has a firm June 1 release date for the US. European gamers will have the game shipped to them on June 3.

Developed by inXile Entertainment, the game is perhaps the least well known among Bethesda Softworks' 2011 game line up. However the co-op themed game could be a sleeper hit especially since its being released in June which is looking like it will be much less crowded than the release slate for PC games in May.

Hunted: The Demon's Forge pre-orders announced

Publisher Bethesda Softworks is prepping for the future release of Hunted: The Demon's Forge by announcing some pre-order specials for folks who put their money down early for the upcoming fantasy action-RPG. The inXile entertainment-developed title, which is due for release sometime in 2011, will have many different pre-order offers from several brick-and-mortar and digital download outlets.

The retailers include Best Buy, GameStop, Walmart and Amazon.com with Steam and Direct2Drive also offering digital pre-order specials. The in-game items include new levels and new monsters that are used in Hunted's dungeon creator system along with exclusive character items and weapons. Hunted: The Demon's Forge due in first quarter of 2011

Last March at GDC, Bethesda Softworks announced their plans to publish Hunted: The Demon's Forge, a fantasy "hack and slash" action-RPG from developer inXile Entertainment. At the time the publisher did not give out a release date for the game. Now, thanks to various articles on the game that are popping up today on the internet, we now know Hunted: The Demon's Forge is currently scheduled for a first quarter 2011 release.

Bethesda also alerted us to some new screenshots from the game which we have added to our gallery. Based on both the visuals and the various previews that have appeared online today it looks like this title will be a bit of a throwback to some serious co-op hacking and slashing. We hope to get hands-on with this game at E3 in June.

Hunted: The Demon's Forge announced

As previously rumored, Bethesda Softworks is indeed publishing a new RPG from developer inXile Entertainment, the development studio founded by former Interplay head man Brian Fargo. The game is a fantasy-themed title called Hunted: The Demon's Forge and it will be a third person game with a co-op bent.

Using Unreal Engine 3 as its graphical basis, the game's storyline has its fantasy world invaded by creatures who are taking villiages away. It's up to the two player characters, the mercenaries E'lara, (who liked ranged weapons) and Caddoc, (a master with the sword) to take on the horde of monsters. There are also magic spells in the game that will boost player skills. So far there is no release date announced for the game.

(Unofficial) Fallout MMO director departs Interplay for inXile

It's looking like there might be trouble for Interplay's plans to make a Fallout MMO game. Today developer inXile Entertainment has announced that Jason Anderson, who previously was to be the creative director for Interplay's Project V13 MMO (which is almost certainly a Fallout MMO project) has left Interplay to join inXile to work on an unannounced RPG title.

Anderson was one of the original creators of the Fallout series when he worked at Interplay in the late 1990s. He then left to help form Trokia Games. When that developer shut down Anderson returned to Interplay in late 2007 to work on their MMO title. With his departure to join inXile (founded by former Interplay CEO Brian Fargo) one has to question the future of the Fallout MMO project.
