New downloadable PC game sales hit the net

GamersGate: From now until Sunday these games are 50 percent off their normal price at the download site: The Club, Imperium Romanum and Tibor: Tales of a Kind Vampire.

Steam: The newly updated The Witcher: Enhanced Edition Director's Cut is 30 percent off its normal price until August 12. Oddly named strategy game gets new title

Earlier this year Southpeak Games released Imperium Romanum, a historical strategy game series from developer Haemimont Games. Needless to say, the title of the original game is a mouthful so for the upcoming sequel, due for release in February 2009, it was decided to go in a much more simple direction.

European publisher Kalypso Media announced today that Imperium Romanum II now has a new title. It will now be called Grand Ages: Rome. Kalypso Media changed the name in order to launch a new and "....distinctive brand for all our strategy games which will be universally recognised and unique in the world wide game markets." Perhaps the publisher is taking some lessons from The Creative Assembly which has been using the Total War brand for all of its historical RTS PC games.

Imperium Romanum content expansion coming Friday

If you have been itching to get some more content for the recent Roman Empire strategy-sim game Imperium Romanum, you are in luck. Paradox Interactive has announced a final release date and price for the previously announced first content expansion for the Haemimont Games-developed title. The expansion will be made available exclusively via Paradox's Gamersgate download service.

The expansion is titled The Conquest of Britannia and as the name suggests it will take the strategy game over to the historical British Isles. It will have not only four new missions but also new tablets, improved art and game design and some extended speech. Gamersgate is currently taking pre-orders for the expansion which will be made available for download this Friday for $5.99.

Imperium Romanum to get downloadable extra content

If you like your historical strategy games you are most likely aware of Imperium Romanum, the recently released PC title from developer Haemimont Games that allows you to be your own Caesar, Nero or any other Roman Empire leader you want to be. The game shipped to stores in the US about a month ago via Southpeak Games but today word got out of a planned content expansion that will be released in mid-May

The content expansion will contain four new scenarios for the game that are set in historically accurate real locations such as Londinium (also known as London), Hadrian's Wall and Aquae Sulis (Bath). Some buildings will be re-designed and some new tablets and events will be added as well. This won't be a free release; the new content will be available only via download for £4.99 in the UK. There's no word yet on the pricing for the US version.
