Amazon.com offers up free comic book for Singularity pre-orders

We have already reported that Gamestop customers that pre-order the upcoming Raven Software-Activision first person shooter Singularity will be getting an exclusive multiplayer character to use in the long-in-development game. Now Activision sends word that Amazon.com customers are getting their own pre-order offer for the game.

Specifically people who put their money down for the game at the retail web site will get an exclusive Singularity comic book for free. This is apparently the same comic boo, published by Image Comics, that was first announced back at E3 in June 2009. You can check out the first seven pages of the comic in our new gallery below (Warning: the pages will take a while to download). Singularity itself is due for release June 29.

Singularity to get comic book tie-in

Among the many game-to-comic tie-ins announced this week during the San Diego Comic Con is one for Singularity, the upcoming temporal-themed first person shooter from developer Raven Software and publisher Activision.

The comic is being produced by Twistory Studios and will be published by Image Comics. The storyline seems to be a prequel to the events in the game with the press release stating it will tell the " . . . story of the shadowy events, which occurred off the Russian Peninsula, that unraveled time as we know it and ultimately led to the Singularity."

The one-shot comic book is due to be released sometime after the release of the game. Some of the comic book's' creators will be signing at Activision's booth at various times during Comic-Con this week.

First issue of Dead Space comic released online for free

We named Electronic Arts sci-fi survival horror title Dead Space the best PC action game of 2008. If you also enjoyed the game you might be interested to know that the comic book web site Newsarama has posted up the entire first issue of the Dead Space comic book mini-series for free.

Published last year before the game was released the six-issue mini-series from Image Comics serves as a prequel to the game's storyline so if you have yet to play the game you might want to hold off until you do so before you read the comic. The entire mini-series has now been collected in a hardcover collection and is now on sale.
