Hunted: The Demon's Forge trailer breaks away from stereotypes

We have to admit that we weren't excited for Hunted: The Demon's Forge. The crucible trailer began our turn back towards interested, and this trailer puts us all the way back into excited. While the plot seems standard enough, it's the acknowledgment that Hunted is aiming to be more about co-operative murder and mayhem than depth of plot that intrigues us. Good dungeon crawlers are few and far between, and none emulate the style of combat and visuals that Hunted seems to bring to the table.

Hunted: The Demon's Forge trailer reveals the crucible

We have to admit that this trailer has us a bit intrigued. Until now, we weren't too interested in Hunted. After all, it looked like a fairly standard third-person action game. With the reveal of how the crucible works in detail, however, we're suddenly far more interested. Randomly-generated dungeons, with waves of monstrous enemies to fight off? This sounds like something we could get into, especially with another person. Plus, you can actually tweak the settings to fully customize the dungeon, making it your own instead of some machine-created bland killfest. We aren't normally impressed by trailers, but this one blew us away.

Hunted: The Demon's Forge level editor details revealed via video

The upcoming fantasy co-op themed action-RPG Hunted The Demon's Forge was revealed to also include a level editor a few weeks ago. Now developer inXile Entertainment and publisher Bethesda Softworks has revealed more details about how the level editor works in a new video, courtesy of

The video, which you can check out after the jump, shows how easy it is to create a new dungeon crawl for the game (you can even hit a "random" button if you want to be surprised). More options for making your dungeon are based on how much gold you collect in the single player campaign. You can play with an AI buddy on any of the user-made levels or a human friend can join online. You can also upload new levels you make for anyone else to play with. The level editor will be included with Hunted The Demon's Forge when the game comes out on May 31.

Hunted: The Demon's Forge release date moved up by one day to May 31

While Duke Nukem Forever may have had its release date pushed back from May 3 to June 14, another game actually got its release date moved up ... by one whole day. Bethesda Softworks has announced that Hunted: The Demon's Forge, the fantasy co-op themed action-RPG from developer inXile Entertainment, will not in fact be release on June 1 in the US as previously announced.

In fact the game will be coming to the US on May 31 making the game part of the massive amount of PC game titles already set for release that month. It will also be coming out on the same day as another fantasy RPG Dungeon Siege III although admittedly both games have very different designs.

Lucy Lawless to voice role in Hunted: The Demon's Forge

lucy lawless hunted the demons forgeLucy Lawless, an actress who already has a huge geek following, has a new entry in her resume. Bethesda Softworks announced today that Lawless will be voicing a role in Hunted The Demon's Forge, the upcoming fantasy action-RPG from developer inXile Entertainment.

Hunted The Demon's Forge to get map creator

Hunted The Demon's Forge just got even more interesting. The upcoming co-op themed fantasy action-RPG from developer inXile Entertainment and publisher Bethesda Softworks has revealed to some web sites plans to include a map creator for the game.

The map creator is called The Crucible. Eurogamer quotes inXile's Matt Finley as saying, "Basically we want users to be able to create maps and share them with their friends. And you'll be able to take your characters through maps." There are no other details on how The Crucible feature will work but we should learn more before Hunted The Demon's Forge will be released on June 1.

Hunted: The Demon's Forge trailer avoids massive eyes

The few trailers we've seen for Hunted: The Demon's Forge have been primarily story and cinematic focused. This trailer, however, takes a decidedly different turn. It shows off the co-op action title from the player's perspective, and gives us plenty of juicy information on the game's mechanics. Our favorite is the combined force of both players working together, such as one player freezing an enemy while the other smashes it to pieces. However, it doesn't reveal how the combat is played, just how it looks from an external viewpoint.

Hunted: The Demon's Forge due for release June 1

Publisher Bethesda Softworks will have a very busy 2011. In addition to May's release of Brink, September's launch of Rage and November's The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim, the company announced today that the fantasy action-RPG Hunted: The Demon's Forge now has a firm June 1 release date for the US. European gamers will have the game shipped to them on June 3.

Developed by inXile Entertainment, the game is perhaps the least well known among Bethesda Softworks' 2011 game line up. However the co-op themed game could be a sleeper hit especially since its being released in June which is looking like it will be much less crowded than the release slate for PC games in May.

Hunted: The Demon's Forge trailer sets along a familiar path

The world of Hunted is a dark, mysterious, and thoroughly grim place to live in. That's the general feel of this new trailer, which explores the universe that the upcoming co-op action game takes place in. With terrible evils, ancient kingdoms, and marching armies, it looks like it will be yet another fantasy universe for eager players to delve into. The art style of the trailer also seems to reflect this, with a distinct "decaying medieval" theme to it. We are, however, waiting for the really cool stuff that will set Hunted apart from its various peers.
