Assassin's Creed Brotherhood trailer hires some contract killers

Much in the same way that Assassin's Creed 2 improved on the first game in almost every way, Brotherhood is seeking to do the same to the second game. A new trailer has released showing some of the new persistence features, and we are salivating in response. Territory control, city building, and personnel management all seem to make a mainstream-friendly appearance in the game, and that's perfectly fine with us. It reminds us of Peace Walker, or perhaps the classic X-COM, and those are great comparisons. Needless to say, if you are remotely interested in Assassin's Creed Brotherhood, this is a must-watch trailer.

Rounding out our coverage of older, historical real-time strategy games is the excellent Empire Earth. Released only a year after the fantastic Age of Empires 2, Empire Earth aimed to push the historical real-time strategy game one step further. While it was a little rougher around the edges than the first two Age of Empires games, Empire Earth still managed to be incredibly fun and give players a look into an interesting and fictional future. If you ever wanted an RTS with the grand scope of Civilization, this is definitely the game for you. Despite its considerable age, it's one of the best games of this theme, and thanks to GoG.com, you can now pick it up without any DRM!

The first Age of Empires was a good game. It may not have been the absolute best, but it was good. Much like all games that prove their popularity after release, the developers decided to give it a sequel. Age of Empires 2 is one stellar game, and it is easily the best in the entire series. It just adds more evidence to the supposition that the second game in a series is quite often the best. While it's a little harder to find today, it's still quite cheap, and offers an incredibly fun RTS experience unlike any other game you have played. Well, except for the first Age of Empires game, but that is a given!

Kharkov: Disaster on the Donets announced

The new World War 2 strategy game from Strategic Studies Group has been announced. If you are a huge fan of WW2 strategy/tactics games with lots of depth and little scope, this new game is for you! Kharkov: Disaster on the Donets (not donuts, although that would be awesome) brings to life the German and Russian offensives near Kharkov in 1942.

In real history, the Germans launched a counter-offensive after the Russian offensive and managed to push them all the way to Kharkov, paving the way for the Stalingrad offensive that took so many lives. As always with intensely realistic historical strategy simulations, you'll be able to influence history through your actions. There's no currently announced release date.
