A game that hasn't been heard from in some time is now officially dead. IGN reports that Highlander The Game, based on the long running movie and TV series franchise of the same name, has been canceled according to a rep from the game's publisher Square Enix.

First announced nearly three years ago, the title would have followed another relative in the McLeod clan, the center of the movies and TV show about a secret society of immortals that walks among humans and who like the occasional sword fight. It was under development at Widecreen Games and was to be published by Eidos. In 2009 Square Enix bought Eidos but apparently decided that it wanted no part of any Highlander game.
