Boot Disk: Heroes of Might and Magic 3

Sometimes you just need to sit down, slide a floppy into your A: drive, and enjoy gaming retro style. We know this all too well! That's why we have a list of the best and brightest from days long gone. These are some of our favorite games of all time, and we're sure that you'll love them as much as we do, if not more. Welcome to Boot Disk, and enjoy the retro ride!

It was only a few Boot Disks ago that I talked about my personal favorite in the Heroes of Might and Magic series. However, there is a different game in the series that has a better reputation than the one I prefer. The one game that is considered the favorite in the series by most is easily Heroes of Might and Magic 3, which has the best gameplay of any Might and Magic game to date. It was recently made available on GoG.com, and now that anyone can enjoy it, it's a definite must for any strategy fan. It reeks of retro style, and in the realm of strategy, retro is king.

GoG.com adds Heroes of Might and Magic III to library

As promised last week, GoG.com continues to expand their DRM-free classic PC game library with another catalog title from publisher Ubisoft. Today GoG.com has added Heroes of Might and Magic III Complete to its line-up of games, bringing another game in the classic fantasy turn based strategy series back to gamers.

The game was originally released in 1999 by the now defunct 3DO and their in-house development team New World Computing. The GoG.com release contains both the original game and its two expansion packs (Armageddon's Blade and The Shadow of Death) and the game's original soundtrack for the price of $9.99.
