Electronic Arts has released a launch trailer for their game adaptation of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. The game, based on the upcoming sixth movie in the fantasy film series (itself based on the novel by J.K. Rowling) is shipping to stores this week. This Week In PC Games: June 29-July 5

A Wild West shooter and a open world driving game are the highlights in the new PC game released this week:

Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood: Developer Techland and publisher Ubisoft team up again on this sequel to the 2007 Western shooter. Play as one of two of the McCall brothers as they try to find the lost gold of Juarez while engaging in some six shooter firefights.

This is the playable demo for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, based on the upcoming movie. The full game is scheduled to release on June 30th for the PC and consoles while the movie is due to hit theaters on July 15th.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince Game Trailer

This gameplay trailer reveals many of the game modes found in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, the video game based on the upcoming movie. Not only will fans have a chance to play as Harry Potter and work to improve his Quidditch skills, but the game will also feature multiplayer wizard's dueling.

"In Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Voldemort is tightening his grip on both the Muggle and wizarding worlds and Hogwarts is no longer the safe haven it once was. Harry suspects that dangers may even lie within the castle, but Dumbledore is more intent upon preparing him for the final battle that he knows is fast approaching. Together they work to find the key to unlock Voldermort's defences' and, to this end, Dumbledore recruits his old friend and colleague, the well-connected and unsuspecting bon vivant Professor Horace Slughorn, whom he believes holds crucial information."

EA to crank out a new Harry Potter movie game

J.K. Rowling may be finished writing all seven Harry Potter novels but Warner Bros. is still coming out with movies based on the two remaining books (indeed, the final novel will actually be split up into two films). So if there will still be Harry Potter movies there will also be Harry Potter games developed and published by the franchise's long time owner Electronic Arts. Today EA announced that they will release a game based on the sixth movie adapation, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. It's actually the seventh Harry Potter game from the publisher; in addition to the six movie games EA also released the fantasy sport themed game Quidditch World Cup.

The game will be developed once again by EA's UK based Bright Light Studio and will be released for the PC and pretty much every other game platform currently viable in the marketplace. Once again look for wizard duals at Hogwarts, along with Quidditch matches and maybe even some romance for the player characters. But who is the Half-Blood Prince? We don't know but if you have read the book you most likely know what we are talking about. In any case, look for the game to be released alongside the movie this fall
