Team Fortress 2 launches second annual Halloween event

Last year Valve had a big Halloween in-game event for its multiplayer shooter Team Fortress 2.. So (shocker) Valve is doing it again with yet another spooky holiday event. This year's "Scream Fortress" event adds a new map to the game, the Mann Manor along with the special Haunted Halloween Gift (yeah we don't know what it is).

The event, which runs through November 8, has a first for the game's players. It's the first non-player character the Horseless Headless Horsemann. Plus the in-game Mann Co. Store has some new items to purchase and Valve has even thrown in a virtual gift wrapping feature.

GamersGate has some Halloween-themed PC game price cuts

With Halloween just a few days away there is certainly no shortage of horror-themed PC games that you can download and check out. GamersGate has a week-long sale of games that are supposed to shock and scare you, at least in theory.

The game deals end on October 31 and include the recent game Amnesia: The Dark Descent for 50 percent off to $9.99. Other games on sale include Dead Space for $9.99, Ghostbusters for $7.99, NecroVision for a mere $5.18, The Penumbra Collection for $9.99, Resident Evil 5 for $14.97, The Path for $4.99, and Zombie Driver for just $4.99

Minecraft to get Halloween update

It seems Notch has taken a page from the average MMO developer's and Valve's penchants for big preview announcements. The runaway blockbuster hit Minecraft will be getting a massive update on Halloween, as detailed on a separate page on the Minecraft site. This update will include many asked-for features including fishing, biomes, a separate travel dimension (hell), more tense cavern exploration, new and tougher enemies, and a slew of fixes to multiplayer. There will also be holiday-themed goodies, such as jack-'o-lanterns! The full list of planned changes is after the cut in picture form, as that's the way it was original presented.

Guide to TF2 Scarechievements

Spooky! That's what Team Fortress 2 is all about lately. Being incredibly scary. Did you hear that? It was TF2 sneaking up on you to try and elicit a fright. No worries, he's off skulking off to go do something else. Probably hanging up fake ghosts or jury-rigging pumpkins to explode or something like that. You can't really tell with kids these days. Anyway, ever the creative type, he gave us a list of tasks to do. He also said that if we do them we will get some sweet stuff, like cool Halloween masks or an awesome stovepipe hat! Haunted by the ghost of Zepheniah Mann, of course. So... do you want to join me in a scavenger hunt?
