The online action-RPG genre is getting a new entry in early 2011 with the just announced
Path of Exile, the debut title from New Zealand-based development studio
Grinding Gear Games. The title is designed to be free to play (with microtransations) on a persistent online server and as you can see from the screenshots the title has some old-school
Diablo-like art style. Indeed the game's web site says that players can expect a lot of blood and gore in
Path of Exile.
Other features in the game include random generated maps, up to eight players in the regular campaign mode, support for Player Vs Player combat, tons of different skills and more. After the game is officially launched, players can expect a series of free expansion packs.
