Latest "pay what you want" indie game bundle hits a snag

Wolfire's recent organization of the Humble Indie Bundle was a success by every measure with over $1 million in revenue generated for six indie games and two charities via a "pay what you want" business model. This week another similar PC indie games bundle launched but this time it looks it has not gone very smoothly.

The web site is call GiveWhatYouWhat.com and it already seems annoying thanks to an intro voice over that you can't turn off. It has the same kind of business model as the Humble Indie Bundle. However complaints have hit the internet about the site with some concerned that the person in charge is attempting some sort of scam.

As a result developers for two of the games included in the bundle (Bob Came in Pieces and Graviton 2) have now pulled out of supporting this venture. The PC Gamer blog site has chats with the developers behind the two games as well as the German-based organizer of this bundle who attempts to defend himself (it doesn't help that his broken English response is incomprehensible at times). Our verdict after reading all of this, well, stuff? Just wait for the next bundle deal.

Valve's weekend deal is all about the indies

Valve's co-founder Gabe Newell said this week during the DICE Summit that their regular Steam weekend deals help to boost revenues for those titles, sometimes in massive amounts This weekend Valve has decided to put not one but five games on sale in one big game pack with a price that is certain to

The five titles are all from indie developers including Multiwinia, Eets, I-Fluid, Trials 2, and Graviton 2. For this weekend only you can download and purchase all five games in one bundle for just $9.99. That's over 75 percent off their normal $44.95 price if each game were bought separately. If you ever wanted to try a game that's outside the mainsteam this is the perfect opportunity.
