Shadows of the Damned was coming to the PC but not anymore

About two years ago, Electronic Arts announced plans to release a new game from Japanese developer Grasshopper Manufacture, the maker of console action games like Killer 7 and more recently No More Heroes. At the time the game was announced as coming on the PC but little else was revealed. Last week at the Tokyo Game Show EA finally revealed more info on the game, titled Shadows of the Damned, but no mention was made about a PC version.

1Up.com got Grasshopper's Goichi Suda to admit that there was indeed a plan to release Shadows of the Damned on the PC but apparently that's not in the cards anymore. Suda would not comment on why the game won't be coming to our platform.

Unreal Engine 3 for new Grasshopper Manufacture game

In August Electronic Arts announced that they would publish the latest game from Japan-based Grasshopper Manufacture, the team best know for their ultra-violent action games Killer 7 and No More Heroes. This week EA sent over word via a press release that the developer will use Epic Games' Unreal Engine 3 as the graphical basis for their still-unrevealed game.

Of course Epic Games has their own publishing deal with EA for an upcoming game that's being developed by their satellite company People Can Fly so Epic and EA are really getting closer together. However, a rumor that EA might actually buy Epic Games was quickly termed "rubbish" by Epic VP Mark Rein.

EA to publish new PC game from Killer 7 and No More Heroes dev team

Electronic Arts has yet another third party publishing announcement to make today. EA revealed that they have the rights to publish a new title from Grasshopper Manufacture, the Japanese based developer best known in the US for their ultra-violent console titles like Killer 7 and more recently No More Heroes.

This new game is described as an action-horror title and will indeed be released for the PC as well as console platforms. It should be interesting to see how this dev team, who have been so used to making console games only, will handle the making of a PC game as well. Regardless, no other info on the game, including a title and release date, has been announced.
