Genesis AD gets big content update

The free-to-play sci-fi first person shooter Genesis AD recently went into open beta and today the game got a major new content update. The update includes four new multiplayer maps. Two of them, Blackout and Titan Lab, support the game's Demolition mode. Another map, Castle (shown above) support the game's Deathmatch mode. Finally the new Duelist map is used for the game's Blaster mode where players go up against each other armed with only the mini-chainsaw.

Also included in the update are over 10 new weapons and items, some of which are unique to each of Genesis AD's character classes and some that are shared by all the classes.

Genesis AD open beta launches

As promised last month, the open beta for the free-to play sci-fi first person shooter Genesis AD has started today. Anyone can now download and play the newest free-to-play Unreal Engine 3-based shooter on the ijji.com web site. The game also comes with some extra such as "booster backpacks and cloaking armor for the Assault, Supplier and Sniper" classes and 30,000 CR (the game's version of in-game credits).

Genesis AD players can also participate in events that could net them some prizes. Now that the game is in open beta there will be no more character wipes. There will also be new content updates added every two weeks.

Genesis AD trailer showcases three player classes

Genesis AD is the latest free-to-play game from Ijji, and it's aiming for an open beta come November. Alongside this news also comes a new trailer which shows off three of the classes in the game. They are, in order of appearance, the assault, sniper, and supplier. The assault seems to use shotguns and focuses on up-front kills, the supplier seems to be a more mid-range, mobility-oriented character, and the sniper seems to be the sneaky, kill you without you knowing type. In other words, standard team-based fare for a shooter. What we're wondering is where we can get awesome jump packs like those, because they blow our minds.

Genesis AD to launch open beta test in early November

First announced earlier this year, the free-to-play sci-fi shooter Genesis AD is about to enter into a new phase. The game from NHN USA will enter into open beta testing sometime in early November on the company's ijji.com web site.

As we have reported before, Genesis AD is set on a future Earth where the melting of the polar ice caps have made the planet's remaining land masses more valuable. Players will have access to several different classes along with special abilities including cloaking effects, jumping higher than normal in the levels and more. You may remember that another sci-fi shooter that was supposed to be made available on ijji.com, Huxley, will no longer be published in the US by NHN USA.

Exclusive: Genesis A.D. revealed as title for next ijji.com first person shooter

Some of you may remember that back in February, NHN USA and its portal site ijji.com announced a contest that would let its users give suggestions for a name that would be used as the official title for an upcoming sci-fi themed free-to-play first person shooter. Today Big Download has the honor of officially announcing the name that was picked for the game.

As submitted by ijji.com member "[A]staroth-" the name of the game will now be Genesis A.D. "[A]staroth-" will get a gaming PC from iBuyPower for his winning game title. The game itself is set in Earth's future where massive global warming is causing the polar ice caps to melt. As a result, the dry land masses on the planet are getting scarce, along with access to resources. The Earth Environment Protection Organization is formed by the Earth's leaders. Its military force goes after any factions that stand in the way of trying to protect what remains of Earth.

There's still no word yet on when Genesis A.D. will officially launch on ijji.com. In the meantime, check out a new teaser trailer for the game after the jump:
