The First Templar goes on a quest for the holy grail

Haemimont is better known for their revival of the Tropico franchise, but that doesn't mean they are neglecting original properties. The First Templar is one of those new properties, and from this trailer... looks suspiciously like Assassin's Creed! While we're holding off judgement, there's certainly a lot of elements that seem to reference Ubisoft's hit series. Running on roofs, the combat system, and even the dive at the end of the video are all reminiscent of Altair's (and Ezi's) adventures against the Templar. We're interested in just how The First Templar will turn out solely based on this apparent connection.

Bulletstorm trailer pisses off the mythical Hecaton

While hyper-violence is decried by some, the majority of first-person shooters still use it as a thematic element. Bulletstorm is continuing that tradition, and this is not especially surprising since it follows in the wake of the incredibly classic Painkiller. This trailer shows off a few new things that we haven't seen before. First are the enemies, which apparently can only be damaged through weak spots. Second is a whip slam that apparently sends all nearby enemies into the air. Third is the monstrous boss Hecaton, who is apparently very, very pissed at the player. We're sure we'll find out when the game releases how that comes about. The dev commentary in the background is also interesting, as it details some of the thought processes behind these additions and decisions.

Portal 2 video goes behind the walls of Aperture Science

it was revealed at Gamescom 2010 that comedian Stephen Merchant, whose appearances include the British version of The Office, is doing the voice of Wheatley - a floating personality orb and guide - in the upcoming Portal 2. In addition to showing off Merchant's comedic skill, this gameplay trailer provides a unique look at the inner workings of the Aperture Science manufacturing facility and the graphics fans can look forward to.

Portal 2 is expected to release in spring 2011.

Space Marine trailer battles the darkness

The Warhammer 40,000 universe is hardly known for its child-like sensibilities, so it's no wonder that the upcoming Space Marine is so gory. It's Relic's only title that it's a strategy game of some kind, and seems to draw more from God of War than from Command and Conquer. This new trailer shows off some of the things we can expect from such an extreme action game, and we're intrigued. Tackling someone to curb stomp them, cutting people apart with chainswords, and blasting the limbs off of Orks seems to be the name of the game, which makes this a very faithful rendition. It's a short trailer, but a sweet one.

Gamescom 2010 brings in 254,000 attendees; 2011 dates set

It's all over now but today the organizers of Gamescom are clearly happy with the response of the 2010 game consumer and trade event that was held last week. In only its second annual event in Cologne, Germany. Gamescom 2010 brought in 254,000 attendees, according to a press release issued by the organizers. If true that would make Gamescom by far the largest such event in the world.

505 exhibitors showed up for Gamescom this year which traveled from 33 different countries. 4,400 members of the media attended the event which was the home for a number of new PC exclusive game announcement. Gamescom 2011's dates have already been set for August 17-21.

Pro Evolution Soccer 2011 trailer goes for the long shot

There are long trailers, and then there's this trailer for Pro Evolution Soccer 2011. Much like the game's name, this trailer runs on forever, and it lists all of the features that have been added or changed in this new edition. Some of the most important include online player trading, stringing feints together, and the creation of new leagues. It also has some new cup licenses for those that wanna try for more championships. The only problem with this particular trailer, though, is the run time. It could have been way more concise, as six minutes is a really long time for a trailer.

Patrician IV trailer gets busy with trading

The Patrician games are fairly popular trading sims, and the newest entry looks to be no different. Despite being hard at work on Patrician Online, Patrician IV is not being neglected by the developers, and this trailer showcases some of the things one can expect of the historical simulation. Trading, city management, and fleet management are all in, as well as some stunning historical artwork. Those used to more action-packed games will not be swayed by this trailer, but it's a niche game, after all.

Witcher 2 trailer fights in a fantasy world

Witcher is one of the better PC games, and is a strong contender against titles like Dragon Age. The Witcher 2 is more of the same dark fantasy world, and we're hardly surprised that it looks stunning. This trailer definitely proves that, and while it doesn't really show any gameplay out of the norm, the art is stunning and the monster design at the end is both unique and intriguing. It's just a shame that a gameplay trailer doesn't show more, y'know, gameplay.

Dark Millennium trailer reveals first playable race

The Warhammer 40,000 MMO has had a media black-out for quite a while now. No information has been released on playable races, vehicle usage, what combat actually entails, or the actual meat of the MMO at all. however, in their demonstration at Gamescom, THQ decided to break out their new MMO and showcase it to the audience. The result is this first trailer, which reveals a good bit about the game proper.

The first playable race, which is no surprise to anyone at all, is the Imperium of Man. This race includes the three subfactions (according to the tabletop game) of the Adeptus Mechanicus (Techpriests), Imperial Guard, and Adeptus Astartes (Space Marines). Gameplay of all three classes was shown, as well as some of the mechanics revolving around the battlefield, and it's certainly a stunning-looking game. This is one of the few trailers to come from Gamescom that genuinely has us trembling with excitement.

ArcaniA trailer fights for a kingdom

The Gothic series is known for its methodical, almost plodding pace of gameplay and story. While the developer did launch an offshoot with Risen, the series as a whole has remained untouched since Gothic 3. ArcaniA, despite the name change, is the newest entry in the series, and the newest trailer came out very recently. The first part is not that impressive, thanks to dated cutscene material, but the subsequent gameplay shots sure are juicy! We do love ponderous combat, as long as it feels weighty, so if Gothic 4 can pull it off, we'll be ecstatic.
