It's looking like Ubisoft is prepping us for an announcement for a new game in the long running Might and Magic RPG series. The game's official Facebook page has posted up a very brief CGI trailer showing an angel-like figure and then the title card that you see above.

Ubisoft bought the rights to the franchise from the now defunct 3DO back in 2003. Since then the publisher has released a new game in the spin-off turn-based strategy series, Heroes of Might and Magic V, along with a first person action-RPG, Dark Messiah of Might and Magic. However there hasn't been a true continuation of the core Might and Magic RPG series since 3DO released Might and Magic IX way back in 2002. It's likely that this teaser announcement is setting up for a full reveal at Gamescom next week.

The debut of the new Gamescom gaming trade and consumer show in Cologne, Germany in August 2009 was a massive success by any definition. Over 245,000 people attended the show, making the first Gamescom the biggest such event in the world (E3 attendance last year was a mere 40,000, less than a sixth of Gamescom's)

Today the organizers of Gamescom announced that the event would be held once again in Cologne on August 18-22 in 2010. They already claim that a number of new exhibitors from Germany and abroad will be attending the event in addition to those that came this year. The first Gamescom had over 450 exhibitors from 31 countries show up . . . along with the customary Stormtroopers for its opening ceremony.

Shown at GamesCom 2009, this trailer gives a quick taste of the fantasy carnage Fairytale Fights will have to offer. The game is expected to release this fall.

"Fairytale Fights is a truly twisted hack'n'slash platform adventure from Playlogic Game Factory. Players assume the role of a much-loved fairytale character, whose glory days have long since passed. While embarking on a seemingly innocent journey to save the fairytale world from certain disaster, players traverse a series of colourful and enthralling levels filled to the brim with action-packed combat, fairytale-style storylines and loads of blood. Luckily, many different weapons lay strewn throughout the fairytale kingdom, which players can use to slice and dice their way through swathes of cute fluffy bunnies and imposing enemies."

Recorded at GamesCom 2009, this interview with The Creative Assembly Community Manager Kieran Brigden goes into great detail about the development of Napoleon: Total War. After the success The Creative Assembly had in bringing players to the battlefield with Empire, they wanted to change things up a bit by focusing on a single figure. No military leader stands out quite as much as Napoleon Bonaparte, whose strategic prowess earned an entire era to be named after him.

The interview also discusses the content players can look forward to in Napoleon: Total War, which includes major battles throughout the general's career. Players will also have a chance to test their skills against Napoleon by playing one of the opposing countries. Napoleon: Total War is expected to release in the early half of 2010.

This trailer for Just Cause 2, shown at GamesCom 2009, demonstrates much of the open world destruction and stunts players will be able to pull off in the game. Just Cause 2 is expected to release during the early half of 2010.

Playing as agent Rico Rodriguez, players can explore over 1000km² of tropical beaches, snow-capped mountains, arid desert and dense jungle as they attempt to eliminate their former boss and mentor who has gone rogue with agency money and secrets. Using a unique grapple and parachute combination, there is no vertical limit as the air becomes your playground: grapple a passing plane in flight, hijack helicopters or BASE jump from the tallest buildings or mountains. It was just the event's first year yet the debut of Gamescom in Cologne Germany has to be considered a massive success. Today the event's organizers said the show brought in 245,000 people over the five days of the event. Last year's Leipzig Games Convention had "just" 203,00 folks show up.

That officially makes Gamescom the single largest game convention on Earth with just one year under its belt (E3 has just 41,000 people this year and PAX had under 60,000 last year) and as you might expect the organizers are planning to do it again next year. The 2010 version of the event will be held on August 18-22 in Cologne.

Shown at GamesCom 2009, this gameplay trailer for the upcoming RPG, Mount & Blade: Warband, includes some stunning in-game footage that demonstrates many of the games features. They include mounted combat and large scale multiplayer battles.

As El Presidente, the leader of a small tropical island in Tropico 3, players will have to go through a lot to win over the hearts and minds of the people. Nothing gets the people's attention more than bold promises of prosperity... backed by well-trained standing army. Do everything right, and the little island can blossom into a tourist's paradise. Tropico 3 is expected to release in September.

Privateer, an upcoming expansion to the recently released East India Company, was announced at GamesCom 2009. Details are still a little scarce, but as the title suggests, players will be able to hire privateer ships to loot and raid trade ships from rival nations. Of course, what goes around comes around, so players will have to find ways to defend against these mercenary pirates. Release details have yet to be announced.

After years of silence, ArenaNet and NCsoft surprised GamesCom 2009 attendees by premiering a trailer for Guild Wars 2 and announcing the launch of the official website. The game takes place 250 years after the events of the original Guild Wars, and players will have an opportunity to select characters from different races introduced in the original game like the Charr, Norn and Asura. Heroes will need all power they can gather, whether it be magic, technology or plain steel to take on a powerful dragon named Zhaitan. No details on a possible release schedule have been announced yet.
