GameDaily BIZ to morph into IndustryGamers

We at Big Download work very closely with the folks over at our sister site GameDaily so when there's news of a major change at the site we wanted you to know about it. While GameDaily will continue to cover the game industry for gamers and mainstream readers the GameDaily BIZ section, which dealt with purely business-to-business news and features, is being discontinued on June 1. The GameDaily BIZ newsletter is also being shut down.

Fret not, however, as the team behind GameDaily BIZ isn't going anywhere. It's simply moving to its own site called IndustryGamers.com. The site will continue to feature the editing of James Brightman who has been in charge of GameDaily BIZ and who has scored a number of major exclusives while covering the business side of games over the over the years. We at Big Download wish the new IndustryGamers team the best of luck in their new venture.

GameDaily has their 2009 resolutions ready

Have you got your 2009 resolutions already set up? If not perhaps you need a little help in deciding what you need to improve in the new year. GameDaily has two such resolution lists it has provided for us today.

One of them is for gamers themselves to consider taking up in 2009. Gamers are asked to embrace creativity and innovation in games while at the same time asked not to pirate those PC games it likes. Maybe you can even play a game in a genre that you are normally not a fan of. Yet another 2009 resolution list is aimed at game developers. If you help to make games for a living perhaps you can do things in the new year like make mod tools available to gamers or mix up the usual settings of game locations. But whatever you do, please don't sell your game's movie rights to Uwe Boll...that's a one way ticket to oblivion right there.

Choose a gaming laptop to play all these E3 games

Fallout 3, Far Cry 2, Crysis Warhead, Red Alert 3, Diablo 3, StarCraft 2 -- oh my! Folks declaring the death of PC gaming are clearly smoking something, as all those games and more have been making waves at E3 this week. You're going to need a computer to run those, right? Thing is, these days notebooks are outselling desktops by quite a large margin. And for good reason -- who wants a giant, bulky brick uglying up their space?

Hence the rise of gaming laptops. To help you make the call on which one to get and how to configure it, GameDaily has a guide to buying a gaming notebook. It's mostly beginner stuff -- and some of it we kinda wonder about; it asserts that a 1280x800 screen resolution is too low for serious gaming, for example, which we're not sure everyone cares about quite so much. In fact, wouldn't you want a lower screen resolution to ensure that your notebook will be able to handle newer games at the native resolution for a longer time? But all around it's a good intro to what you need to look out for. Give it a read if you're in the market.

GameDaily wants your questions for Sid Meier

Continuing its ongoing series of asking industry veterans ten questions directly from their readers, GameDaily has another icon up their sleeve for the near future. Until May 29, GameDaily is accepting questions for an interview scheduled with Civilization creator and industry legend, Sid Meier.

As usual anything goes from questions ranging from Meier's vast career, which began in 1982, to personal hobbies and even anything related to the upcoming console-only release, Civilization Revolution.

While GameDaily would love to ask Sid Meier everything under the moon, the segment is called 10 Questions so only the best inquires will be selected. So, make sure your question is top notch.

GameDaily lists top 25 greatest PC games

GameDaily has compiled a list of the top 25 PC games of all time. It's quite a list. It includes everything from The Secret of Monkey Island to Doom to World of Warcraft. It's hard to argue with the contents of the list, although everyone will have his or her own opinion about the order in which the titles are ranked.

This list is a lot better than a similar list of games on one of the consoles would be. Why? Because the PC has 30 years of historic titles -- six times the life cycle of any given console. With that kind of history, you know that 25 is too small a number in which to encapsulate the illustrious PC tradition.

Oh, and the number one choice could be considered rather controversial, but we won't spoil it for you.
