Nitrous Undefeated revealed

Start up game developer Game Mechanic Studios announced their first game, the action title Art of War, just over a year ago. Since then the company has been pretty silent on their plans for the game but that isn't stopping them from going ahead and revealing their second original game.

As you can see via the YouTube video, it's called Nitrous Undefeated and it looks like it will be a racing game in the Burnout tradition. In an email announcing the game, the studio says they want to take the "racing genre to new heights with a racer where the story, characters, and cars are just as important as crossing the finish line." As with Art of War there no word on when Nitrous Undefeated will be released.

Game publishers show off Christmas e-cards and videos

As Christmas is less than 24 hours away as we write this, we have been getting various e-cards from developers and publishers celebrating the holiday season. You can see one of them above as Blizzard combines their Warcraft and StarCraft universes for an interesting Santa interpretation. You can see some other e-card we have gotten in our email boxes from developers like Croteam, Hi-Rez Studios, NCsoft and others.

But that's not all. Croteam has also released a trailer showing off some Santas in some "serious" co-op action which you can check out after the jump. Also Relic and THQ have released their own video Christmas card which we are betting is also a big hint about what we might get in Relic's next game Warhammer 40,000 Dawn of War II Chaos Rising.

Game Mechanic Studios reveals new concept art for upcoming game

The new game developer start up Game Mechanic Studios made their first game announcement last Christmas Day with the first reveal of Art of War, their debut action game. This week the developer sent over a new concept piece from the game (shown above) that seems to show a guy with a sword going up against lots of other guys shooting rifles. Our question: Who would you put your money on winning this battle?

While there still isn't a lot of info about this game yet, our sister site Joystiq.has an excellent feature article that looks at some new independent start up and Game Mechanic Studios is one of them. Be sure to check it out.

New interview reveals more on Art of War developer

Christmas Day is usually a quiet time for game news but newly formed game developer Game Mechanic Studios used that day to reveal the first small details on their debut title, a shooter named Art of War. Our sister site Joystiq earlier this week was the first web site to post up an interview with Game Mechanic Studios about their plans.

Naturally there's not a lot to talk about since the game is still early in development but co-founder Jason Alejandre states, "We make shooters and we are going to start with what we do best which is exactly that. We are going to introduce players to a brand new world." He adds, "The game is different yet the same. When thinking out of the box it is very easy to get caught up in the moment. Then you find yourself somewhere in left field. We plan on straddling the line of familiar yet different." There's no word yet on a release date.

Art of War revealed

Christmas Day was the day that new game development company Game Mechanic Studios promised they would reveal the first details on their debut game title. Today the company did not disappoint as they officially revealed their action game Art of War.

The company released a concept piece and two in-game screenshots from the title. Their description of the game? "Art of War stars Warren Canvas, a reclusive millionaire with a love for art. His journey will take him on an adventure to famous battlegrounds of the past. These amazing places have all been re-imagined in an exciting new way. Get ready for war in a world with limitless possibilities. 20:1 odds will be a beautiful thing! " Sounds highly ambitious. There's no word yet on a release date.

New game development group teases us on first game

More and more, we are seeing game developers who have cut their teeth working for big publishers and developers break away and launch their own smaller studios. Yet another example of this was revealed this week as three folks who used to work for Electronic Arts and Activision have officially announced their new company Game Mechanic Studios.

The team members used to work on titles like a number of Tony Hawk games for Activision and titles for EA's Los Angeles studio, including Command and Conquer 3 and the recently canceled FPS Tiberium. They are not revealing their first title yet but that blurry image you see above is a teaser for their first original game. If you sign up to their newsletter for updates they promise to give you "exclusive game content" via an email on Christmas Day.
