Bit.Trip Runner for PC now available on Steam [Update]

In 2010 a PC port of developer Gaijin Games' WiiWare rhythm game Bit.Tip Beat was released via Steam. Today the fourth game in the series, Bit.Trip Runner, was also brought to the PC platform and is now available to download once again on Steam.

Once again the game has you controlling "Commander Video" through over 50 different levels of the game's version of the Moon. The PC/Steam version contains new features such as a new Easy mode and a hard mode along with Steamworks leaderboards and achievements. The game is normally priced at $9.99 but it's currently on sale for 10 percent off until March 7.

Update: Bit.Trip Beat is also on sale via Steam for 50 percent off until March 7.

Apache: Air Assault released for PC via download; small patch released

As promised earlier this month, Yuplay.com has now released the PC downloadable version for Apache: Air Assault, the modern military helicopter sim game from developer Gaijin Entertainment for $49.99 The PC port is apparently an exclusive to Yuplay.com at the moment. The console versions were release via publisher Activision earlier this week.

The game's first small patch has also been released on the Yuplay.com web site. The 7 MB 1.0.0.1 patch contains an update to the game's launcher file. While the console versions of the game also have demos, there is no word on when or if the PC port will get a demo as well.

Bit.Trip Beat released for PC via Steam

As we previously reported, the rhythm-themed arcade game Bit.Trip Beat has now been released via Steam. The title from developer Gaijin Games was first released as a downloadable game for Nintendo's Wii console back in March 2009 and has since been released by three sequels on the Wii with a fourth due out this fall.

The game itself has the player controlling an on-screen paddle that heads off waves of blocks while also keeping up with the beat of the music. The PC/Steam version adds new features such as Steam achievements and leaderboards along with a new "easy" mode. It also supports the Razer Sixense motion controllers which have yet to be released. The game normally costs $9.99 but it's currently priced at $8.99 until November 9.

Bit.Trip Beat coming to the PC "soon"

A game that was released for Nintendo's downloadable WiiWare service over a year ago is going to be on PC hard drives in the near future. Eurogamer reports that Bit.Trip Beat, the first in the series of music-rhythm games from developer Gaijin Games, will be heading to the PC platform "soon".

First released for the Wii back in March 2009, Bit.Trip Beat has the player controlling an on-screen paddle that heads off waves of blocks while also keeping up with the beat of the music. There have been four games released in the Bit.Trip series so far on the Wii and a fifth is due out this fall. There's no word yet on how much the game will cost on the PC.

Southpeak to publish Battle Vs Chess this fall

If you like your chess matches to have some extra oomph then perhaps Battle vs Chess might be something to look forward to. The game, which was previously announced last March, now has a publisher in Southpeak Games. It will bring the Gaijin Entertainment developed game to the PC and other platforms sometime this fall.

Much like the holographic chess game in Star Wars, the chess pieces are animated and fight each other in scripted animations when they try to occupy the same space. However players can directly control the chess pieces in its Action Mode, turning the game into a fighting title with special weapons, moves and combo attacks.

Wings of Prey expansion pack revealed

Late in 2009, developer Gaijn Entertainment released Wings of Prey, their PC World War II flying simulation. Now comes word that the game is getting a new expansion pack, Wings of Luftwaffe. Due out in April, the expansion pack will add two new plane and 10 new missions to the original game as you get to fly on the German side this time There will also be over 40 new skins for the game's existing planes.

For the moment, the only way to get the expansion pack is via the yuPlay web site. This weekend you can pre-order the expansion for 30 percent off its normal price. The original Wings of Prey game is also on sale for 50 percent off this weekend only.

Wings of Prey now available via digital download


Looks like there will be one more PC games released this year after all. Today Gaijin Entertainment announced that their WWII military flight simulator Wings of Prey is now available to purchase via download for $49.99. People who decided to get the digital download version get access to two extra planes for free. Another plane can also be added to the game "for a small fee".

While it's not stated on the web site, Wings of Prey is an improved version of IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds Of Prey, the console only flight sim that was released earlier this year to high critical acclaim.
