Skydive: Proximity Flight announced

You know those folks that jump off a perfectly good airplane and then parachute to the ground safely? Those people have nothing on the wingsuit flyers that jump off high mountains and cliffs and then glide down while wearing a uniform designed to catch the air and act more like a plane than a chute. Now developer Gaijin Entertainment, best known for its military flight sim games, is making this new activity into a game, Skydive: Proximity Flight.

From the game's press release, this title is being made especially for motion controllers (much like the recent Razer Hydra) as players will be able guide the wingsuit user via arm and body movements. Look for a variety of locations, impressive looking graphics and multiplayer as well. The game still does not yet have a release date nor word on what platforms it will be released from.

Interplay wins injunction against Topware's Battle vs Chess game

You may remember earlier this year that developers Topware Interactive and Gaijin Entertainment released Battle Vs Chess, a fantasy strategy take on the classic chess game. That move apparently didn't make Interplay very happy. The publisher filed a lawsuit against Topware on September 24, claiming that Battle Vs Chess was an infringement on Interplay's own Battle Chess trademark.

In a recent filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, Interplay announced that the court battle against Topware has succeeded in a preliminary injunction being granted that prevents Topware from "further use of Battle Chess or any confusingly similar title by TopWare." So that pretty much means that the game can't be sold until it gets a new title.

Apache: Air Assault released for PC via download; small patch released

As promised earlier this month, Yuplay.com has now released the PC downloadable version for Apache: Air Assault, the modern military helicopter sim game from developer Gaijin Entertainment for $49.99 The PC port is apparently an exclusive to Yuplay.com at the moment. The console versions were release via publisher Activision earlier this week.

The game's first small patch has also been released on the Yuplay.com web site. The 7 MB 1.0.0.1 patch contains an update to the game's launcher file. While the console versions of the game also have demos, there is no word on when or if the PC port will get a demo as well.

Apache: Air Assault coming to the PC; pre-order downloadable version now

Last month it was revealed that Activision would be publishing Apache: Air Assault, a military helicopter sim-action game from developer Gaijin Entertainment. However that game was listed as only coming out for the Xbox 360 and PS3 consoles. Now it looks like the game will be coming to the PC after all as a downloadable only product.

The web site Yuplay.com is currently taking pre-orders for the $49.99 game which should be released sometime later this month. The game itself has the player controlling the Apache AH-64D Longbow helicopter throught 16 different missions in a variety of locations around the world.

Battle Vs Chess to be released September 28

Are you ready for some EXTREME CHESS? Well, that may have been one of the alternate titles for Battle Vs Chess. The more action-oriented fantasy themed version of the classic strategy game now has a release date of September 28 via publisher Southpeak Games.

Developed by Topware Interactive and Gaijin Entertainment, the game uses the classic chess board and pieces in new and different ways such as "Madness Placement" (chess pieces are placed randomly on the board) and a full campaign mode with over 50 scenarios and puzzles. We especially want to see the new "Tactical Placement". The player moves his or her pieces before the game starts and those moves become visible to the player only after the game has begun. Sneaky. The PC port will cost a mere $19.99.

Southpeak to publish Battle Vs Chess this fall

If you like your chess matches to have some extra oomph then perhaps Battle vs Chess might be something to look forward to. The game, which was previously announced last March, now has a publisher in Southpeak Games. It will bring the Gaijin Entertainment developed game to the PC and other platforms sometime this fall.

Much like the holographic chess game in Star Wars, the chess pieces are animated and fight each other in scripted animations when they try to occupy the same space. However players can directly control the chess pieces in its Action Mode, turning the game into a fighting title with special weapons, moves and combo attacks.
