Front Mission Evolved PC gets two more DLC releases

Front Mission Evolved didn't really make a dent in PC game sales when the mech (or wanzers, actually) action game was released last September. However that's not stopping developer Double Helix and publisher Square Enix from releasing two more downloadable content packs for the game this week via Steam.

One of the DLC packs is a map pack priced at $3.99 which adds two more multiplayer maps which can be used in all of the game's multiplayer modes. The other DLC release is called Last Stand. Priced at $4.99 it adds a new multiplayer co-op gameplay mode where you and your buddies have to face off against waves of enemies.

It's truly bizarre (pun intended) that Activision is now considering shutting down one of the best development teams in the business. Garnett Lee at Shacknews expresses his feelings on this situation and they mirror our own. In short, Activision bought Bizarre Creations yet mismanagement by the higher ups, and not poor gameplay design, is causing this current situation.

Front Mission Evolved getting DLC packs next week

If you are one of the few folks who bought the recent mech-theme action game Front Mission Evolved from publisher Square Enix last month, you will be getting some DLC for the game starting on October 28. Siliconera reports that there will be four DLC packs available for the PC version via Steam and that one of them will be free, although the article doesn't say which one will be priced at $0.

Two of the DLC releases for the game will be weapon packs with one containing the Darkhog machine gun, the Blackstone shotgun, and the Sieger rifle. The other weapons pack adds a bazooka, a rocket launcher, and a missile launcher. The other two packs add new Wanzer mechs to the game with one containing the Tower and the Stork and the other adding the Wildgold and the ISV-Prototype. The weapon packs will cost $2.99 each while the Wanzer packs will cost $3.99 each.

This Week In PC Games: September 27-October 3

This week is yet another busy one with a new zombie action game, a mech-action title and more. Also folks who purchased the regular edition of Final Fantasy XIV can gain access to the MMO this week (the game's already live for owners of the Collector's version).

Dead Rising 2 - Developer Blue Castle Games and publisher Capcom bring this sequel to the zombie action game to the PC franchise for the first time. Players will get to fight off the undead horde in a fictional Las Vegas-style city with pretty much any item they can get their hands on.

Front Mission Evolved slightly delayed; pre-orders get extra wanzers

Ok, get your head out of the toilet. "Wanzers" is name for Front Mission Evolved's version of mechs. As it so happens the upcoming action game from developer Double Helix and publisher Square Enix (busy day for Square Enix news) is getting a slight delay in its release date. Originally scheduled to ship on September 14 the title will now ship two weeks later on September 28. No reason for the delay was mentioned.

However if you pre-order the game from outlets like Best Buy, Amazon and GameStop you will indeed get a couple of extra wanzers to use in the game; the Calm ("Unmatched in melee combat as well as long-range firefights when equipped with the appropriate weapons") and the sniper-skilled Rexon.

Front Mission Evolved gets September 14 release date

It's a game that hasn't gotten a lot of publicity of late but now publisher Square Enix has announced that the mech action game Front Mission Evolved will ship for the PC and other platforms on September 14. The game, a new entry in Square Enix's long running Front Mission series, is being developed by US-based Double Helix Games. The press release states that the PC version will have support for "stereoscopic 3D" although specifics are not mentioned.

Unlike the previous Front Mission games, which have been turn-based tactical titles with RPG elements, Front Mission Evolved is a real time third person action game with players piloting the mech machines (known as Wanzers) on Earth 150 years in the future. In addition to a single player campaign the game will also feature several multiplayer modes.
