There are a number of free full PC first person shooter to download; titles like America's Army, Alien Arena, and more are all available for gamers to have some completely free shooting action. We can now add another title to that mix. Red Eclipse is a Quake III inspired shooter from a group of developers that have used the open source Cube Engine as the basis to make their game.

The 1.0 version of the game is now available for download and comes in PC, Mac and Linux flavors. Red Eclipse also comes with a map editor that will allow players to create their own levels for the game. You can check out gameplay from Red Eclipse after the jump:

Want to get a game that normally cost $20 for free? Of course you do. In celebration of the fact that today is October 10, 2010 (or 10-10-10) casual game developer PopCap Games is offering folks a chance to get its classic puzzle game Bejeweled 2 for free for the PC and Mac.

Yep, all you have to do is head to the game's official web site by 10 pm Pacific time tonight (that's 1 am Eastern time). hit the "Get it Free" button and then hit checkout. The site will fill in the coupon code you need to get the free game automatically and then you fill in a little personal info before you get access to the download. And then get ready to become addicted to matching jewels and blowing them up. However be prepared for some slow server action; it looks like a bunch of folks are trying to get in on this 'free game" thing. Who would have thought that?

Developed by the indie team Trendy Entertainment in just four weeks using the Unreal Development Kit (UDK), Dungeon Defense is a Tower Defense / Action RPG hybrid. Developed by a fan named Eric Ruth, Pixel Force: Left 4 Dead imagines how Left 4 Dead might have looked and played if it were developed for the original 8-bit Nintendo Entertainment System. The game supports up to two players, however it only uses pre-set keyboard controls. Pixel Force: Left 4 Dead is free to download and play.

In 1996, Remedy Entertainment (currently working on Alan Wake) developed an addictive top down racing game called Death Rally. Now Death Rally is being re-released, ported to modern Windows platforms, and available in its entirety for free to download and play.

Yes, Big Download has been running a contest starting earlier this week where 15 of you might walk away with a free game code from GoG.com. However, the DRM-free game download service from the folks at CD Projekt announced today that they have already posted up two games that are free to download for anyone...yep, anyone with a free GoG.com account.

The two games are Beneath a Steel Sky and Lure of the Temptress. Both are classic point-and-click adventure game titles and both from Revolution Software. Beneath a Steel Sky even comes with its associate comic book drawn by Watchmen artist Dave Gibbons.
