Fireburst trailer explodes onto the racing scene

Racing games with plenty of explosions are always our favorite kind, and this trailer for the relatively unknown Fireburst definitely has lots of destruction. It shows plenty of in-game footage of cars catching on fire, slamming into each other, and exploding rather violently. Beyond that, it's pretty much the same sort of thing you can expect from a racing game. Go around on tracks, muscle opponents out of your way, and reach the finish in first and in one piece.

Fireburst announced

Fireburst, based on just the title, sounds like a game that's about a volcano. In fact this upcoming downloadable title is a racing game from publisher Zoo Entertainment that's due out this summer for a mere $9.99. Fireburst's title comes from the fact that the vehicles in the game have four "Fireboost" bonuses (Fireball, Firewheels, Firewall and Fireblast).

The game itself will feature a variety of cars, trucks, buggies and offroad 4x4s on both paved and off-road race tracks with settings that include "airfields, docks, oilrigs, sewers, refineries, warehouses and waterfalls." The game, powered by Unreal Engine 3, will also allow for surface customization for the cars with over 250 car skins and 16 characters. Look for both single and multiplayer gameplay modes where races can taunt their fellow drivers.

Fireburst announced

Are you ready for another off-road racing game? The German-based game publisher Black Inc hopes you are with the announcement this week of Fireburst, a game that is destinted to be hot, hot, HOT! (sorry, got carried away there). Created by the development team at exDream, the title is due for release in late 2009.

No screenshots have been released yet but the game is an Unreal Engine 3 based title and the title is not just a metaphor. The press release claims that gamers can "make a rival's car explode with a burst of fire." A wide variety of vehicles is promised along with 20 tracks that will have "shortcuts and alternative routes." Let's hope the screenshots burn our monitors up . . . or not.
