Dragon Age Redemption trailer reveals summer 2011 release

As promised a tiny portion of the upcoming live action web video series Dragon Age Redemption was shown on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon last night. It showed a lot of running, some fighting and some dagger throwing by the lead character played by Felicia Day.

Day also chatted with Fallon on the show and told him she had trained for over two months on how to use daggers for her role as an elven assassin. She also proudly showed off her "guns", namely her muscled up arms she had developed while training for the role. The end of the trailer stated that the web video series, based on BioWare's RPG series, would start sometime this summer. Our question: Why run such a web series well after Dragon Age 2's release on March 8? You can check out the trailer after the jump:

Dragon Age live action video series (with Felicia Day) announced [Update]

Dragon Age fans and fans of geek favorite actor Felicia Day are joined together in celebration this morning. USA Today reports that a live action online video series based on BioWare's fantasy RPG, titled Dragon Age: Redemption; will be released later this year. Day not only stars in the series (as a elven assassin named Tallis who is out to capture a "renegade magician") she wrote the script as well.

The six part video series has already been filmed but there's no specific date for its release. The game Dragon Age 2 is due out on March 8. Meanwhile Day is now working on season 5 of her original web series The Guild about the real life troubles and adventures of a group of MMO players.

Update: EA has announced that the first trailer for Dragon Age Redemption will be shown during Wednesday night's Late Night with Jimmy Fallon talk show

The Guild to return to comics in January 2011

It's been a busy week for Felicia Day and her MMO web series The Guild. The first episode of the fourth season just started and this week it was announced via Comic Book Resources that a second comic book mini-series based on The Guild will begin in January 2011.

Day will write or co-write the issues of the second mini-series which will be published by Dark Horse Comics. While the first mini-series (which will be collected in trade paperback in December) was an origin story on the formation of the Guild, the second mini-series will focus on the other members of the MMO group besides' Day's character of Cyd/Codex. The first issue will deal with Vork and will be co-written by his alter ego, actor Jeff Lewis.

Guild Wars 2 behind-the-scenes video puts faces to the voices

Guild Wars 2 will not only feature a nice variety of races for players to choose from, but it will also feature some great voice talent for its main characters. It's almost creepy, how some of these voices match up so perfectly with their characters. Probably the most recognizable actor is Felicia Day, creator and writer for the the internet sitcom, The Guild. So, the star of The Guild will be featured in Guild Wars 2... think maybe some of the developers at ArenaNet decided to put two and two together?

The Guild heads to comics in March 2010

The MMO-themed web series The Guild has become a huge internet sensation and now the online sitcom about a group of massively multiplayer game players and their real world interactions with each other is getting translated to comics. Comic Book Resources has posted word that the three-issue mini-series from Dark Horse Comics will release its first issue in March 2010.

The mini-series is written by The Guild's creator and star Felicia Day and will take place before the start of the web series as we see her character Cyd meet the fellow members of her guild for the first time and learn how she came up with her MMO character Codex. Art for the series will be by Jim Rugg. The first issue will be released with the choice of two covers; one by Georges Jeanty and the other (shown to the right) by Cary Nord.

The Guild Seasons 1-2 DVD coming to stores September 29

While the folks behind the web video series The Guild have self-published DVDs based on their first and second seasons, they have apparently decided to see if they can reach a mainstream audience. This week it was announced that distributor New Video NYC will begin selling a two-disk DVD set containing the first two seasons of The Guild, plus extras, in stores on September 29.

In addition to the first two seasons of the comedy series about an MMO guild, the new DVD will have extras like audio commentaries, bloopers, interviews, PDFs of scripts, gag reels, a gaming glossary, a table read video and more for $19.99.

MMO Internet sitcom The Guild to become free Microsoft exclusive

One of the big cult hits on Internet video over the past year has been The Guild, a sitcom of 10 short episodes about a group of MMO players. The series has survived on PayPal viewer contributions and sales of its first season DVD. Now the Hollywood Reporter has news that The Guild will launch its second season this week as a Microsoft exclusive.

The show will be shown for free via Microsoft's MSN Video web site along with their Xbox Live and Zune outlets. In addition, the first season will be re-released as well via those outlets. One of the big features about this new deal is that The Guild and its star-creator Felicia Day will retain full creative control over their episodes including if they decide to move into traditional film and TV locations (although Microsoft does have the rights to make games based on The Guild). Sprint is another sponsor of the new season of The Guild.
